When I came to later, it was almost completely dark. I was on a bed somewhere; I could tell from the sound the mattress made when I moved. My body throbbed. I slowly got up and stumbled around. It was easy to tell I was in a cell after my hands had slid across at least five bars. My head pounded, and I could not think clearly. What was going on? Where was I? Then it hit me, the memory of Max’s cold, dark eyes right before he punched me. I have to get out of here. Fear was running through my body. My legs felt like they were going to give way.
