Getting my grind on. The chirping of the birds woke me up the next day, I was struggling to get up but the thought of Hayden and my plan gave me strength. I got up, bathed and got dressed for school, then I went downstairs "Morning Mom and Dad' I greeted my parents with a smile, they both smiled when they saw me. "Hope you had a nice night?" My mom asked. "Yeah" I replied smiling as I patted my little brother, Lenny who was busy greedily slurping his lemonade tea, not paying any mind to anybody, even me. "Morning Merissa" I greeted my little sister too "Umph" she snubbed me. "Risa, what's up with you?" I asked her. "mummy, tell Alex to mind her business" she screamed. "Merissa, learn to be polite to people and stop screaming like a fishwife" my Mom said from the kitchen, Merrisa looked at me and rolled her beautiful eyeballs at me. "she is not happy because mum and dad wouldn't give her extra pocket money" Lenny told me, eyeing Merrisa comically which made me laugh. "Shut up Lenny" Merissa barked, staring daggers at Lenny. I know she is never gracious to anybody when she's not in a good mood so her response did not freak me out, my beloved little sis can be such a pain in the ass sometimes, but she can be an angel when she wants to be, especially when she wants something from you, but that's beside the point. "hey sis" called Matt, lumbering in I bet he was about to troll me too, what did I ever do to get such obnoxious siblings, I thought fondly. Lenny is the only one who is a total angel. "It's your thing to find a crush or fall in love at first sight in your first days at school, didn't you find any cute boy yesterday?" he asked, fluttering his eyelashes mockingly. "Nah!" I replied "I intend to keep a low profile till I graduate, Matt" "Oh really? you don't take me for a fool, do you?" he asked, smiling mischievously, trying to rile me up, I'm sure, but I'm not going to give him that satisfaction. Smiling toothingly at him, I said "Of course not, I'm telling you the real fact here" "hmmm, why don't I believe you? you have gotten so good at lying, Lexie" he said, wiggling his bushy eyebrow and annoying me further. "Matt, mind your damn business" I screeched at him. "Matt, stop needling your sister, and Alexis, no cursing" my dad warned us both. Matt knows me so well, I thought, my annoying elder brother knows I fall in love each time I transfer to a new school, I wish I can tell him that this time, it wasn't love at first sight since I had already dreamt about Hayden and I had fallen in love with him even before I met him in school. I smiled at the thought that I proved my brother wrong. Remembering what Annabelle told me yesterday, I asked my dad if I can be allowed to walk home by myself after school. "why would you want that, Alexis?" my mum asked, walking into the dinning room with a jar of juice in her hands. "I want to walk home with my friends after school, mom" "so you have made friends already?" my dad asked, happy at the thought. "yes Dad" I said, rolling my eyes "so can I ditch the car then? please?" I pleaded "okay, you can, but do not come home later than usual" my mum warned me. "I won't, I promise. Thanks mum and dad" I said, happy that I can now come home myself without restrictions. Next, I will be persuading my parents t get my own car for me. After all, Matt has his already, even before he had graduated. After the breakfast, I thought about the things I'm going to do in school and what I'm going to say if Hayden ever talks to me, I was so deep in thought that I was shocked when I heard the loud horn of the car, I got my bag, waved goodbye to my parents and siblings and then left hurriedly. I just kept smiling in the car, the chauffeur, Mr Dalwin noticed this unusual behavior and asked me why I was so happy, I told him nothing. When we got to school, I got down and went to the classroom and saw that Hayden had not arrived. I was disappointed but I didn't show it. I looked for Annabelle and didn't see her. I greeted my classmates, some responded while most didn't but I didn't care, all I want is to see Hayden. Minutes later, I saw Anabelle bouncing in with her usual energy, she waved at me and I waved cheerfully back. She got to my seat and sat down. "phew, I swear, I didn't want to come to school, I feel a headache" she said, closing her eyes, her long eyelashes framing her eyes delicately. "Annabelle, is it serious? if it is, then I think you should go home" I told her, worried for her. She waved my worry away "it's nothing, it comes and goes, I'll be fine" "okay, if you say so" I said, shrugging. Few minutes later, we heard a loud noise of girls screaming and giggling happily. The hubbub was so disturbing, I asked Annabelle, what's going on. "Hayden has arrived" she answered "Whaaaat!" I exclaimed "Is this how it gets noisy everytime he comes to school?" I asked, very surprised. "Yes! Most of the time" she answered derisively. I have a feeling she was once one of those foolish girls when she still had a crush on him. I stood beside Anabelle as we watched the clear view from the window side until Hayden came in followed by some of the girls and Mrs Benning. "Show is over, back to your classes everyone!" Miss Benning roared. Everyone obeyed and started disappearing until there was no one to be seen again. And we in the class went to our seats. At last, Hayden came in looking more handsome than ever, I flushed the more and I quickly adjusted myself to avoid notice. Not long after, we heard the headteacher's voice in a speaker 'Good morning, students of Mayfair high school, your attention is urgently needed at the Southwest Hall" The students started discussing loudly when they heard this. We all left our classes and on the way, students chatted happily. "Why is the hall called Southwest Hall?" I asked Anabelle not minding my steps then I mistakenly trod on someone's toes "Ouch!" a girl's voice cried out, I looked up only to find three girls wearing uniforms that are tailored the same way staring daggers at me. "Watch where you are going, b***h" the girl that I stepped on shouted at me. "I'm sorry" I apologized immediately "Next time you try this, it shan't be funny" the third girl said, trying to stick up for her friends. They hissed and left, walking, no, sashaying in sync. I could not take my eyes off them. They are the most beautiful girls in the school, I'm sure. "Now, I'm greatly confused, whose toes did I even trod on?" I asked Anabelle. "It's better to avoid them if you want to have better days in this school.'' Anabelle advised me, not minding my question 'Why?' I asked her but she didn't answer me. "you will see" she said to me. We got to the Southwest Hall and I looked around ith surprise "whoa" I exclaimed at the sight of the magnificent white Hall, it was a big hall with neatly arranged chairs and each chair was decorated with royal blue ribbons. We sat down and while still admiring the hall, I spotted Hayden at the far end of the hall, sitting pretty and relaxed. I admired him with my sharp eagle eyes. Within a few seconds, I saw those three girls who were so rude to me earlier, sitting not far away from Hayden. "Are those not the girls from earlier?" I asked pointing to their direction to Anabelle and as she was about to speak, we saw them bossing three girls who sat in the first three chairs in the front row, and commanding them in a rude voice to stand up, those girls obeyed immediately and they stood up and went to find some other seats at the back, and those bossy girls sat down in the chairs. "Whaaaat?' I said with exasperation "See why I told you to avoid them?" Annabelle said to me, looking in the direction of the girls and smirking knowingly. I didn't answer, I just looked with great disbelief "A group of bullies is what they are" I managed to say after taking my eyes off them "They are not bullies" Anabelle replied, staring at me as if I were mad and this annoyed me greatly. "They are the most beautiful girls in the school" she said "their names are Mia, Jane and Julian" she said as she was pointing to each of them "Beautiful girls?" I exclaimed with derision "they don't look beautiful to me" I said looking skeptical and incredulous "They all look like leeches" I added coldly "You must be blind or maybe jealous" Anabelle said frankly "calm down friend, beauty does not collocate with the scene they played earlier, they are all scallywags" I replied staunchly "Alright then, whatever you say" Anabelle concluded, probably deciding that I might be unhinged. Some minutes later, Mrs Maltida walked in and addressed us on some topic. Mrs Matilda spent almost an hour addressing us, I didn't hear a single thing because my attention was all on Hayden, I couldn't take my eyes away from him. I might be becoming partially obsessed. Mrs Matilda rounded up her speech and we all went back to our classrooms. Classes began and our first subject was Geography. A tall, fair, middle-aged and handsome looking man entered "Good morning class" he said as he entered "Good morning Master Alfred" we all chorused. "This is the Geography teacher and this is also Hayden's favorite subject" Anabelle whispered from her backseat, I fretted when I heard this. Hayden's favorite subject! I echoed to myself again If I could pass Hayden's favorite subject, maybe he'll talk to me, I thought pleasantly to myself. I concentrated fully throughout the class. Master Alfred kept asking questions and Hayden was the only one answering them. This really is his favorite subject, I thought with great admiration so I decided to make Geography my favorite subject too. Just for Hayden's attention, I can do anything even if I have to learn all the Chinese characters, I muttered with determination to myself and I promised myself to pass this subject very well. I know I had promised myself to lay low but it wouldn't hurt to be noticed by the golden boy of the school, will it?
