obsessed plan

Chapter 2- An obsessed plan "It's fate" I thought, finally concluding after so much thinking. 'When it's lunch time, I'm gonna approach him and know his name' I gave myself a smile of satisfaction after this thought. Then I remembered that I had planned to lay low till graduation so as to avoid trouble, and I resolved in my mind to nurse my crush in secret. I tried so much to concentrate in class but it's just not possible, not with my crush in the same class as me, I wonder what his name was. I brought out my pink diary and scrabbled different names on a page, and cancelled those that didn't sound like him. At last, I settled on Hayward. The name suits him so well, I thought. The bell rang and everyone stood up and started leaving the class. Most students ignored me blatantly like I didn't exist. I cared less, it's a good thing that they were ignoring me and not being outrightly hostile to me. I watched as my crush packed his books and left the class, with quick beautiful strides. His attention was the only one that mattered to me, but unfortunately, he is not giving me attention either. A girl walked up to me, blocking my view of him 'Hi, are you the new transfer student?' she asked inquisitively, I looked up at her, she was very beautiful. Tall, dark long hair streaked with different highlights of colour, she was very slim too. She had green beautiful eyes and high cheek bones. She was smiling benevolently at me. "Yes, I am" I answered with a puzzled frown. "The headteacher needs you now" she said "Why?" I retorted She shrugged lightly "For some information and other stuff, I guess" she answered "Come, I'll lead the way" she said turning her back and leading the way I was worried, why would the headteacher need me now? In my former school, the only reason I was called to the principal's office was because I have made trouble. I don't think I've done something wrong since I came, except ogling the most handsome boy in the school of course, but that doesn't count. Or does it? I thought to myself. Settle down first, you've got time, my subconscious assured me, I nodded to myself and walked faster to catch the quick strides of the girl. We got to an opulent door and the girl pointed "this is her office" she said with a beautiful smile "My name is Anabelle Dylan, nice meeting you" she said stretching out her right hand "I'm Alexis Harrison" I replied as we shook hands. "I will find you later" she said and left, bouncing away with joy. Such a friendly girl, I thought smiling. I knocked politely on the door and went in 'Morning ma, I heard you wanted me' I said with my best smile. "Oh! yes dear" she replied solemnly "I'm Mrs Matilda, the headteacher of this school" I looked into her eyes as she spoke, a short woman in her late forties, she is starting to show some wrinkles on her forehead but she is calm and has an air of authority in her voice, she walked up to me elegantly, held my shoulders and said " I need you to fill this forms" She said as she handed a pile of papers to me, I smiled as I collected those papers and filled them. By the time I finished filling the forms, lunchtime was already over, I gave them to her. "I'm done ma'am" I told her "oh very good. You can go. Have a nice stay in this school dear" she said to me. I nodded thankfully and left her office. When I got to the classroom, my crush was surrounded by some students, mostly girls. He wasn't even giving them any attention, he was just reading. He is so handsome even while reading, I thought as I was admiring him. Anabelle walked up to me and tapped me "Hey" I turned and smiled at her. "Mind if I keep you company?" she asked me. "oh no! sure you can" I agreed as we walked to my seat and she sat next to me. The class was in big ruckus and all the chairs were scattered, each student in different groups, some were listening to music, some were chattering happily, a group of guys were playing volleyball, some girls were pressing their phones, some taking pictures while others were busy with one thing or the other "Is this how the class normally is?" I asked Anabelle after looking at the classroom and everyone with great confusion "Not really" she answered "Seems that guy is the only serious one" I said pointing to my crush "Who? Hayden?" she asked blithely. So his name is Hayden. I muttered smugly, thinking that it must have been really fate, considering that I almost got his name right. "So? Whatever do you mean by that?" Annabelle asked looking puzzled, having heard my mutterings. "I was wondering what his name was, he is cute" I replied, giggling. "Ohh!" she said, smiling as I satisfied her curiosity, I brought out the chocolate Merissa gave me and shared with her, she accepted it, putting it in her mouth immediately. "hmmm, delicious" she said, closing her eyes in ecstasy. I see she is also a chocoholic like me, I thought. Good enough reasons to make her my friend. "tell me about Hayden" I entreated her. "hmm, Hayden Baldwin, one of the best students the school's ever had, he's very intelligent, short of a genius actually, athletic and what's more, he's also the face of the school" she said after eating the bit of chocolate in the wrapper "Whoa!" I said listening to her intently, and throwing more admiring glances at Hayden. "But!" Anabelle said as she threw the chocolate wrapper away "But what?" I asked raptly. "He is a condescending Buffon" she said harshly, watching me intensely. "what!" I exclaimed, feeling offended on Hayden's behalf. "he has a thing about intelligence, he does not talk to brainless or unintelligent people, he does not associate himself with people and he is so f*****g full of himself too" she said, looking at him with hatred. What has he done to make her to hate him this much? I asked myself, surprised at her outburst. "I don't believe you" I told her "he does not look like what you portray him as" "girl, just because he does not look it, does not mean I'm lying" she said, hurt by what I said. "I'm sorry, I just..." "don't worry, I understand you perfectly well, that was how I was when I had a crush on him" she said, nodding her head as if to reassure herself. "you once had a crush on him? I asked "Well, I was once crushing on him but I was rejected and embarrassed publicly but I'm way over him now' she confessed to me,shaking her head, as if to ward off the memory of it. "I tell you Alexis, he's a narcissist" I became scared and daunted myself. Maybe I should stop crushing on him too, if Hayden likes intelligent people, that means he'll never even look at me, I thought sadly to myself. I'm not very intelligent, though I'm not dumb either, I'm just a mediocre person but my mediocrity is nothing to be sad about, because it is something I could easily improve on, I just never had the interest. I use to think being the top of the class was overated and really boring. I'm not someone who likes to be in the limelight anyways. The teacher walked in and Annabelle went back to her seat after whispering to me that we should meet later after class. The closing bell rang and everyone was happy, including myself. I can organize my thoughts and rest my head at home What a hectic day it had been, but at least I made a friend, I thought. Annabelle came bouncing towards me. "will you be walking home?" she asked me. "No, our driver is coming to pick me" I replied. "okay, but tomorrow, tell your parents you will be walking home so that we'll go home together" she suggested "okay, I will. That will be fun" I said, and we giggled. On our way to the door, I saw Hayden with his two friends, Anthony and Ricky, Anabelle had told me everybody's name and I have committed them to memory already, I looked at Hayden, admiring his great height, If someone is this tall and handsome, why won't he be proud? I thought to myself. I know, I know I'm a hopeless romantic but that's me. I wouldn't have been this obsessed if I hadn't seen him in my dreams last night, I thought consoling my pitiful self. Anabelle and I walked outside and both waited for the car that would take me home. When it came, I waved goodbye to her and entered the car and we drove away. When I got home, my mom was the only one home. She smiled broadly when she saw me "darling, how was your first day at school?" "it was okay" I said as I managed to return her smile. I went upstairs to my room, I threw my school bag somewhere, unbuttoned my shirt and threw myself in my bouncy bed. I'm sharing my room with no one so I decorated it with my favorite colors, Coral and Grey. Today has been so stressful, I thought briefly about everything that happened then I showered and took a short nap. When I woke up, the house was already full, I was hearing my younger brother's shrill voice. I came downstairs for dinner. "Alex" Lenny said, throwing himself at me when I got downstairs. I hugged him happily as I smelt his soft curly hair. I greeted my Dad with a hug "Sweetie, how was school today?" "it was cool'' I replied Dinnertime came and everybody talked about how their day went, I was the only one who didn't interfere in their conversation. I couldn't tell them I was crushing on a boy after I promised that I will lay low and not make any trouble. I kissed my parents and siblings goodnight after dinner and went up to my room, my mom came in few minutes later, having noticed my unusual quietness. "What's wrong sweetie?" she asked "you've been quiet throughout" "Nothing Mom" I replied dryly "Is something bothering you?" she asked again. I know she was worried that maybe I was being discriminated against in school because of my colour. It had happened in my former school, and that was what put me in trouble mostly because I was always rebelling against it. Though some students were a little bit rude to me today and even some teachers, but it wasn't something I couldn't handle. My problem was my crush for Hayden and I can't possibly tell my mum that. "It's nothing, Mom' I assured her "I'm just tired. "Okay sweetie, goodnight" she said as she tucked me in "Goodnight mum" I replied as she closed the door. I just couldn't forget what Anabelle told me, I kept rolling on the bed unable to sleep How can Hayden not like unintelligent people? That's pretty condescending of him, I thought aloud then my subconscious advised me, If you can study hard and pass your exams, there might be a chance he might notice you. Yes, I agree, if I study and become intelligent too, he can give me the attention I need from him and probably look at me for once. The trick is in becoming more serious this term, I wasn't too bad before but if I put more effort into my studies, I can make almost top place in class, can't I? It was like a heavy burden lifted off my chest as I heaved a sigh of relief, and thought of how good my idea was. Finally happy with myself, closed my eyes and dozed off to sleep.
