The Life of the Never-ending: Echoes of My First Death is a haunting psychological thriller wrapped in mystery, memory, and the cruel enigma of time.

When Kaito dies in 2004, it should have been the end — but death is only the beginning. Reborn again and again into new lives, always as someone else, he retains fragments of the past: faces he cannot forget, cities he never remembers leaving, and a growing suspicion that someone — or something — is pulling the strings. As he assumes a new identity in Tokyo, questions from his first life claw their way back into the present.

Each death leaves behind echoes. Each rebirth comes with a cost. And through it all, one name keeps surfacing: Yui — a brilliant, unpredictable girl with ties to a forgotten truth and a fate she doesn’t yet understand.

But the deeper Kaito digs, the more the world unravels. Secrets hidden for centuries begin to surface. A shadowy organization known as Project Aeon hunts him relentlessly, and immortal figures from forgotten eras whisper that he is not the first, nor the last.

What if the curse isn’t a punishment… but a cycle waiting to be broken?

As memories bleed into madness and time loops into itself, Kaito races to discover the secret behind his first death, the child he lost, and a prophecy that was never what it seemed.

Because immortality was never a gift.

It was a trap.

And the only way out… might be through one final death.

The past is never past.

And the end is just the beginning.

Prologue – The First Death
They say death is quiet. That it comes gently, like sleep. But mine came with fire. Metal shrieked. Glass shattered. The air filled with smoke and screams — my daughter’s, my wife’s… and my own. The world tilted violently, then slammed to a stop. I was pinned beneath the crushed frame of our car, lungs burning, bones broken, head bleeding into the pavement. I saw her — Airi, my wife — her hand barely reaching for mine from across the twisted wreckage. Her lips moved. No sound came. My little girl, Mina, wasn’t moving in the backseat. Then… the fire caught. I couldn’t scream. I couldn’t breathe. And as the flames closed in, I saw him — across the street, coat dark, face in shadow. Watching. Not helping. Watching. This wasn’t an accident. --- 16 Hours Earlier – Tokyo, Thursday – 3:42 AM Airi’s laughter echoed from the kitchen. She was trying to fix the old coffee grinder again. I was on the floor with Mina, helping her with a picture book about stars. She insisted Jupiter had a face. I let her win the argument. “You’re distracted,” Airi said, setting two mugs on the table. “You’ve been writing again, haven’t you?” I nodded. “Something’s off. Like I missed something important.” She leaned in, kissed my forehead. “Maybe it’s not something. Maybe it’s someone.” She was right. But I didn’t know what that meant yet. If I had known these would be the last hours, I would've said more. Held them longer. Never let them out of my sight. --- Present I died moments later, with that man’s silhouette burned into my memory. With Mina’s rabbit doll still clutched in my fingers. But as the world went dark, something deep within me refused to fade. A whisper in my blood. A promise: “If I open my eyes again — I’ll find you. I’ll uncover the truth. And I’ll never stop until I make you pay.”
