Chapter 45 Elena’s POV: The past few days had blurred together into an endless cycle of nothingness. I had lost count—was it the sixth day or the seventh? It didn’t matter. All I knew was that I had spent them locked in my room, curled beneath my blankets, drowning in silence. No one from my family had come to check on me. Not my mother, not my father, not even Elaine. The only proof that they still existed was the faint echoes of their laughter that drifted through the walls, like cruel reminders of the life I no longer belonged to.
