Chapter Three - What has happened to him?

2096 Words
Ellie I rolled my eyes, walking away from Drew. I can't believe he doesn't even remember me. And what the heck has happened to him? He used to be sweet, and now he is a complete douche. I needed another drink, a strong one at that. I had lost Carrie somewhere in the crowd; she was probably with Lucas. I was with Connor, but he is now talking to some other girl that he has been crushing on for a while, so I encouraged him to ask her for a dance. Why he needed encouragement, I don't know. He never seemed to have any problems with his confidence earlier, but maybe it's because he likes her. So here I was walking around like a complete loner.  "Ellie," I heard Carrie say from behind me.  I turned to face her, and she skipped over to me, Lucas behind her.  "What is going on? I saw you getting into it with Drew again?" She asked. Carrie must not remember him, but then again, it was not very often I was with both of them at the same time.  "Don't even get me started. Let's just say we already know Drew, well not the person he is not but the one he used to be. I will tell you the rest later. You go have fun with Lucas," I said winking.  "Wait? Drew as in your first kiss drew?" She asked, shocked, clearly remembering. "Yup," I said  "What happened to him?" She asked, and I shrugged my shoulder. Connor looked at us, confused. "Long story," I laughed. “How long have you known him? And he has no clue who you are?"  Lucas asked. "Ellie and Drew have known each other since they were like two. They were best friends," Carrie said.  "Yup that sounds about right. That we were until his family moved away when he was about sixteen," I added. "Why don't you just tell him that?" Lucas asked. "Because I never meant enough to him if he can just forget me like that. Yes, it was like six years ago we last seen each other, but we were very close before that," I said, "Just let him work it out for himself." I added. "That is f****d up, especially if you were best friends for like fourteen years," Lucas said shocked ", And I won't say anything to him, promise." He added, and I smiled at him.  What no one knows is we were not both just each other's first kiss but each other's first as in sexually. Yes, we were only sixteen, but we were best friends and were not sure how our lives were going to go after that. It was one night when he came back to visit after falling out with his dad, and we got a little drunk, and well you can imagine the rest. And I think that is one of the main reasons I am pissed off that he doesn't recognise me. I haven't changed that much since then. My hairs longer and I have my curves now rather than just being skinny, but everything else was the same. After that, we just let it drop and got back to drinking. Lucas grabbed both Carrie and me, wanting to dance with the both of us. It was all just innocent fun though, well for Lucas and I. Carrie and him, that's a different story I am sure. Though they were getting a little too personal for me and luckily Connor came to my rescue. "Thank you," I laughed as he pulled me into him dancing.  "You are very welcome. I realised that it was getting a little too much for you," He laughed, his hands landing on my hips. I decided I would just let loose for the night. I wrapped my arm around his neck, our bodies moving together. "What happened to that girl you were telling me about?" I asked. "She is interested but playing hard to get," He laughed, "But I don't mind a challenge," He added winking.  "I am sure you don't," I said giggling.  He grabbed my hand, twirling me out and pulling me back in, dipping me, the both of us laughing hysterically. "How can she resist with moves like that," I laughed.  "I know, right?" He chuckled, "Though you have grabbed someone else's attention by the looks of it," He said nodding behind me.  I turned around to be met with Drew, watching me. I turned away, rolling my eyes. "What has happened between you and Drew?" He asked, confused. "Long story. Will tell you that story another day," I said. "Since we are now friends?" He asked, smiling.  "Yes, since we are now friends," I replied.                                                        *** Carrie and I had been having a lot of fun tonight. Drinking, dancing, playing games and just generally enjoying ourselves with the help of Connor and Lucas. As for Drew thankfully he had stayed out of my way, well except his eyes they have been following me around most of the night, but I just ignored him. It was one am, and I had stopped drinking, so I went for some water and the next thing I felt someone behind me. "Ellie?" I heard in a slur behind me and knew it was. Drew. I sighed, turning to face him, and I was that close to him, I could smell the scotch on his breath. He smelled like a distillery. "What do you want?" I asked, annoyed.  "Why do you keep acting like we know each other?" He asked "Because we do," I said, rolling my eyes.  "You sure you are not just some mad stalker?" He chuckled.  "Yes, Drew....that's what it is. I am your stalker, don't flatter yourself," I said groaning at him.  He moved in closer until his body was pressed against mine, his hands on the counter at my sides.  "Why won't you tell me how we know each other?" He slurred. "Because why should I waste my breath? I never meant f**k all to you," I said, getting frustrated with him. "Did we like f**k or something and it was that good you fell in love with me?" He said, laughing. "No, that is not it," I said, pushing him away from me and going to walk away "Think about who you were before the person you have now turned into and that may jog your memory," I added, walking away from him.  I headed over to find Carrie.  "Hey, I am going to head back to my dorm before I punch Drew. You stay, have fun and be safe," I giggled, pointing to Lucas and Carrie.  "I will walk you back, and you can tell me all about why you want to hurt Drew so much," Connor laughed, "Because I can't be bothered with this party now, either," He added, smiling.  "Ok deal," I replied.  I said goodbye to Carrie and Lucas. Connor doing the same before we headed down to my dorm room. I let us in.  "Make yourself comfortable, Connor and thanks for walking me back," I said smiling.  He took a seat on my sofa, and I went to grab us some juice before joining him. "Connor, how long have you knowing Drew?" I asked.  "Since we started NYU together so about two and a half years," He said.  "Has he been this way since you met him?" I asked. "Yeah, he is sort of the bad boy of campus. He is smart as anything but always gets himself into trouble or causing trouble somewhere. He drinks like a fish, f***s around like a hoe, parties nearly every night, plays pranks and treats most people like crap, especially women," Connor said.  Seriously what has happened to him? When I last saw him, he was the complete opposites from all that.  "So what is the story of you and Drew Ellie?" He asked.  I started from the beginning, missing out the s*x part but telling him everything else. I told him what Drew used to be like when I knew him and how he was a sweetheart. Every word I said Connor got more shocked because he never saw that Drew. "That is crazy. And now he doesn't even remember you?" He said, and I nodded, "That's shocking, Ellie," He added. "I guess people change, uh? Anyway enough about him, tell me more about you, about this girl you are after?" I smirked. He happily did tell me about himself. The poor guy has had a hard life, but he's got through it. He is sweet, even though he acts as he isn't sometimes. "As for Chelsea I have liked her for a while, but she likes to string me along and play mind games which I don't mind, but after six months I am sort of getting fed up with it," He said.  Poor guy but then again, I am sure he and his friends have strung many girls along with themselves.  "Have you ever asked her out or just spent your time trying to get her in bed?" I asked, raising my brow at him. "Once and she said no but continued to act like she was into me after it. I honestly don't know if she does actually like me or not," He said sighing. "Ask her out again and if she says no then move on or find some other girl and then she will surely come running because you are someone else's," I suggested. "You volunteering?" He smirked.  "What to make her jealous?" I asked, and he nodded, "Sorry not my style, but I am sure you can find someone," I added, laughing.  "You are no fun," He said pouting at me, making me giggle, "But if I had a beautiful girl like you in my arm that would definitely make her jealous," He smiled widely at me. "Not going to happen,” I laughed. He stuck his tongue out at me, laughing, which made me do the same. If he were to ask me out on a date for real rather than to make another girl jealous, I would possibly say yes, but he isn’t.  "I don't think I could, anyway. Drew would f*****g kill me," He said. What has it got to do with Drew if he asks me out? I don't belong to Drew. I looked at Connor, raising my brow at him.  "He wants you for himself," He said, "Thought you worked that one out already," He added. "No, he wants to f**k me and find out where we know each other from. And that my friend is never going to happen," I said, shaking my head.  "I wouldn't be so sure about that. Drew always gets what and who he wants," He said.  "Well, he isn’t getting me especially with who he has now turned into", I said.  I hated knowing that my ex-best friend was now a complete douche with no respect for anyone, especially women. He was brought up better than that, and he knows it. Though Connor never looked to convince about Drew and me. After that, I changed the subject to talk about anything but Drew because I don't know him anymore.  "Ellie, do you mind if I crash here? I really don't want to go back to have to listen to Drew f*****g someone or Lucas and Carrie. I get lonely enough as it is," He said.  "Lonely? Thought you guys got any girls you wanted?" I asked, raising my brow.  "They do...me not so much because I am not as arrogant or confident as they are," He said.  I felt terrible for him because he was probably the most decent guy out them all, but I guess the bad boys always win. "Yeah, sure. You can jump in next to me as long as you keep your hands to yourself because the other bed isn’t made up, and the sofa isn’t exactly comfy," I said, chuckling.  "Yeah! Snuggle buddy," He laughed, making me do the same, "And I promise to keep my hands to myself, well Maybe," He said winking at me.  I chuckled, rolling my eyes and headed to grab my Pjs, changing in the bathroom. When I came back through Connor was already in the bed, his jeans laying on my floor, well at least he kept his top on. I climbed over the top of him, making myself comfy and he did the same, spooning me, not like I minded because it's been a while since I have felt a guy's touch. "What I don't even get a goodnight kiss, Ellie?" He snickered. "No, you do not. Behave yourself, or you are sleeping on the floor," I giggled. "Fine! Though honestly, thanks for letting me crash with you," He said, reaching over and kissing my cheek.  "You are welcome. Good night Connor, sweet dreams," I said. "Night," Connor said, pushing his front against my back, his arms draping over my hip and snuggling close to me which I never minded.  Within a moment, he was sound asleep, and I could feel my own eyes starting to close over.
