"What do you mean?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady, though her heart was pounding in her chest. Lorenzo moved toward the desk, his eyes flicking over a series of papers and photographs scattered across the surface. "Domenico’s allies are making moves against me, and I don’t have the luxury of time. You’ve been dragging your feet, Isabella." She stiffened at his words. "I haven’t been dragging my feet," she said, struggling to keep her composure. "I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to approach my uncle without raising suspicion." Lorenzo’s gaze sharpened, his expression unreadable. "I don’t care about your caution anymore. We’re at war now. I need everything—his plans, his connections, his next move. You’re going to have to move faster, Isabella. Or else, things will go from bad to worse." Isabella’s mind raced.
