Chapter 2: The Warning The night air was cold as Isabella stepped out of the café. She pulled her coat tighter around her body and started walking home. The streets were quiet, only the distant hum of the city filling the silence. Her mind was still stuck on Lorenzo De Luca. The way his piercing blue eyes had locked onto her, the smirk on his lips—it sent shivers down her spine. She didn’t know why a man like him had noticed her, but she wanted no part of his world. Lost in thought, she almost didn’t hear the footsteps behind her. Her heart pounded as she quickened her pace. The footsteps followed. She turned a corner, hoping it was just her imagination. But the moment she did, a strong hand grabbed her wrist. A gasp escaped her lips as she spun around, coming face to face with a man dressed in black. He wasn’t Lorenzo, but he carried the same dangerous aura. His sharp eyes studied her like a predator watching its prey. “You need to stay away from Mr. De Luca,” the man said, his voice low and firm. Isabella’s throat went dry. “I—I don’t even know him.” The man’s grip tightened slightly. “It doesn’t matter. He noticed you. And when Lorenzo De Luca notices something, he doesn’t let it go.” Her stomach twisted in fear. “I have nothing to do with him.” The man smirked. “Let’s keep it that way.” Without another word, he released her and disappeared into the shadows. Isabella stood frozen, her pulse racing. She didn’t know what game she had been pulled into. But one thing was clear—Lorenzo De Luca was dangerous, and she had just become a part of his world.
