Chapter 3: An Unwanted Visit Isabella couldn’t shake off the fear that had settled deep in her chest. The warning from the mysterious man echoed in her mind: "When Lorenzo De Luca notices something, he doesn’t let it go." She barely slept that night. Every sound outside her apartment made her jump. She kept telling herself that she had nothing to do with Lorenzo, that this was all a misunderstanding. But deep down, she knew the truth—she had caught his attention, and there was no escaping it. The next morning, she forced herself to go to work as usual. The café was busy, filled with the chatter of customers and the smell of fresh coffee. For a moment, she almost felt normal again. Then the door swung open. The café fell silent. Conversations stopped. Even the air felt heavier. Lorenzo De Luca had arrived. He walked in like he owned the place, his presence demanding attention. Dressed in another perfectly tailored black suit, he looked effortlessly powerful. His cold blue eyes searched the room—and landed directly on her. Isabella’s hands clenched around the tray she was holding. Her heart pounded, but she forced herself to stay calm. She couldn’t show fear. Lorenzo approached the counter, his smirk unmistakable. “Good morning, Isabella.” The way he said her name made her shiver. He remembered her. “M-Morning,” she stammered, cursing herself for sounding so weak. He leaned in slightly. “Did you sleep well?” The question wasn’t casual. It was loaded. He knew. He knew about the warning. About the fear that had kept her up all night. “I slept fine,” she lied. Lorenzo tilted his head, studying her. “Lying doesn’t suit you.” Her breath hitched. He was too close, too intense. Everyone in the café was staring, yet no one dared to interfere. “What do you want?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Lorenzo’s smirk deepened. “You’ll find out soon enough.” He picked up his coffee—black, just like before—and walked away. His men followed, leaving the café just as tense as when they arrived. Isabella stood frozen. She had a terrible feeling that her life would never be the same again.
