…
Two days later I’m outside a huge company building that says..
“AD Connect CO.”
My heart pounds in my chest as I walk in and I’m met by a young looking receptionist who has on an outfit that would make my parents have a heart attack.
Girl: Hello! May I ask who you’re here to see?
Nadia: I’m here to see the boss, the highest in charge if I may?
Girl: I’m afraid I can’t let you see him at the moment, he’s in a ling meeting and it’s already been 3 hours he’s been in there.
I nod as I come up with a smart plan as I fan myself.
Nadia: Oh that’s fine. Say, do you have a bathroom around here? I’m in need to relieve myself.
Girl: Of course! It’s right down that hall to the right.
I nod and walk that way as I look behind me and see the girl turn around to organize some things and I turn the other way as I quickly walk down the hall fast enough to get out of sight.
I make it far enough as I speak in my kid Walkie Talkie.
Nadia: Coast is clear.
Mya: Perfect. Now, go straight down the hall and you’re gonna make two left and then a right at his office will be right there.
Nadia: Got it. Over and out.
I pocket the device and speed walk down the hall as I make it to the office and walk in carefully to see a singular man writing on some paper and he pause to look up at me.
Boss: Hello. May I help you?
Nadia: Yes, I want to speak with you about the job maker and why-
Boss: Oh I’m afraid our job market is closed, we’re not hiring at all.
Nadia: Oh I’m not here for a job, I’m here to ask why you cut the town’s main source of income and have young people who looks like supermodels at receptionists.
The man looks behind me and waves me in to have a seat across from him, so I do.
Boss: Look, we didn’t have a choice. The CEO cut our funding and isn’t giving any money to us for the town. Who do you work for? You need hush money?
Nadia: No. I just want to know why my parents and all the other people in my town don’t have a job anymore and why is the CEO cutting the funding? ISNT he the one needing the money the most or something like that? That’s stupid.
Boss: Look, all I can tell you is that the CEO cut the funding and it isn’t enough to keep paying your town for the jobs so we had to let everyone go for the sake of keeping THIS place afloat.
I nod along as I slump back.
Nadia: I don’t get it. Why cut the funding for a whole town that does nothing but good?
Boss: Between me and you, I think it’s about that bad breakup he dealt with, man kids are so sensitive.
I perk up.
I’m sorry did you just say break up?
