Chapter-4 Whisper

Chapter-4 Whisper ‘Mother might have her heart jump out of her chest at our sudden presence.' Whisper told Talon. The only other sound other than, the chit-chat of the siblings was the sound of the horse's feet. The carriage bumped a little due to the unevenness of the path, disturbing their words occasionally. They were returning home from the castle after two weeks, without even informing their parents, well aware of the shocked smile that will spread on their lips. As warriors, Whisper and Talon were always away from home. Sometimes they were in Afhyl protecting the supernatural birds from the attack of The Rogues. Sometimes they were in Ebony kingdom settling disputes. Sometimes they were in Pacifica resolving the conflicts between the Witches and The Shape-Shifters. They found thieves, rapists, murders everyone. It became tough, and they missed home, but home missed them too much. ‘And she might also kill us for entering the house with muddy shoes.' He chuckled, looking at his shoes that were covered in mud, just like that of Whisper. Soon the hustle-bustle of a market was audible which meant they were almost there. ‘Aren't you excited about meeting Adlecia?’ Whisper asked, making the smile on his brother's face flatter. Last year, Talon met his mate at the Lilac Moon festival. Unfortunately, Talon didn't like her. They didn't get along. But he never tried to get to know his Gamma mate. Which only added to Whisper's fear, fear that she might end up like Talon. ‘You know we aren't in love. We barely know each other.’ He answered. Sometimes Talon could just remain at the castle so he doesn't have to come home and pretend that he has a wife. That way he is not obliged to sleep on the floor, because sleeping in the same bed as Adlecia is strange. Even after an year, they are still strangers put in the same home. ‘It's been a year since the two of you met. Trouble is you never tried.' She insisted. Adlecia and Whisper were good friends, and she was a nice girl. If Talon tried Whisper was sure their relationship would work. You need to move your hands to stay afloat on water, but Talon had refused to do the slightest movement. ‘We've arrived.’ Talon said as the carriage came to a halt. Whisper didn't bring it up again. It was a matter where, no interference would work. Adlecia and Talon would have to solve it themselves. Whisper could only insist Talon to go ahead and take the first step. Both of the them jumped down the carriage and then the carriage man rode it away. Both the siblings smirked at each other and put on the hoods of their capes, covering their faces. They knocked on the door of their house waiting for their mother to open up. The door was soon opened to reveal the face of their mother. Eyes just like that of Talon, a shade that fell somewhere in the middle of green and blue. Her face was somewhat wrinkled and blonde hairs were tied up in a bun. She looked confused after seeing the covered faces. ‘Is this the house of General Saige Bloodrose?’Talon asked in a heavy voice. The old woman did find the tone familiar. She knew it was her children, she could recognize those faces even when it was enclosed withing five different cloaks. ‘Yes.’ She nodded, deciding to play along. ‘Unfortunately, we lost Whisper Bloodrose, and Talon Bloodrose in the fight.’ Talon said waiting patiently for their mother to react but she showed nothing. ‘I know it is the two of you.’ She raised her eyebrows. The pair sighed and pulled down their hoods. They always planned a prank while coming back, but they were caught. The mother of two smiled wide, finding her kids safe and sound. She engulfed the two in a hug. It felt warm, her nurturing aura always healed all the wound that Talon and Whisper walked in with. ‘How are you, mom.’ Whisper asked, wrapping her hand around her mother's neck. ‘Really joyous, now that you are home, safe.’ She replied and pulled away. She kissed their foreheads softly and then called for her husband. Saige's eyes were after all longing to see his daughter. He would never say it, but when Whisper went away his heart went on fire, not dousing until she was back. ‘What happened, Edith.’ He came jogging down the spiral staircase that lead to the door. Saige's mouth was open wide at the sight of his two children. He came running and wrapped his hand around his daughter's neck. Talon was envious, but he had learned that the side of Saige that Whisper saw is something, only for her. ‘Sir, you also have a son.' Talon reminded jokingly, looking at his sister who was on the verge of tears, on being in her father's arm after 4 months . As soon as she pulled away from the embrace, Whisper was pushed to the ground by a black creature. Ace, he was the panther she had tamed. The huge black cat licked her face trying to tell her, how much he missed her. ‘I see who missed me the most.’ She said, brushing her hand on his fur softly, lying on her back on the floor as Ace nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck. ‘How are you, Talon.’ A feminine voice asked from behind Edith and Talon looked up at his mate. Adlecia had a small smile on his lips, at the sight of his mate. The smile on Talon's lips flattered, she was the only part he hated about home. ‘Alive as evident.’ He replied bitterly and Whisper nudged him with her arm. ‘We should eat something, right Tal.’ Whisper quickly turned the topic. ……………........................................................................ Lucien entered the boudoir that belonged to him yet not belonged to him. Both his mates had their bedrooms, but Lucien refused to live in either one of them. He had his separate place, where he found his peace. But sometimes he visited his mates, when his eyes were blinded by lust. So he followed his needy steps towards the boudoir of his second gamma mate. Wise yet graceful, she was different from Titania. Titania's beauty had come in the way of development of her brain. But she, she had smartness. She knew what she was doing. But better than his two mates, was Whisper. All he saw and all he needed. Beauty with such impeccable taste of bravery, and brain the cherry on top. She struggled, she denied submission while her kind was made to do it. That is what drew him towards the Omega. While all the ladies out there prayed for a taste of him, she kicked it right in Lucien's face. He was more than attracted towards Whisper. He had to have her, one way or another. When he walked into her boudoir he was surprised. She was not dressed in expensive gowns and jewelry, she was dressed in battle gear. She had the metallic suit on, with all of its parts except the helmet, so Lucien could look at her face. ‘What is this, Raina?' He questioned. He only liked Whisper in her battle gear. When his mate wore it, it was a competition, as if she was trying to overpower Lucien. An he could spare anything, but not someone overpowering him. His power and pride was his air. ‘I thought you like women in battle gear. I am certain I am not wrong.' She chuckled curtly making anger rise in the blood of the Alpha. Raina was taunting him, if he didn't get it wrong. When one of his submissive mates taunted him, it wounded hid pride. ‘I'd like to know what this is about?' He demanded in a louder voice, knowing very well that Raina's spirit Gamma will flinch and submit, unlike Whisper. Just like his expectations Raina flinched before answering. ‘We know this is about an Omega who is poisoning my life.' She retorted. At the mention of that girl, Lucien's anger drained away, it was replaced by amusement. Not only him, but his mates were now, intrigued by Whisper. They were feeling competition from her. According to Lucien, Whisper was not their competition, because it was impossible for them to meet the amount of charm, Whisper possessed. ‘Whisper.' He trailed tasting the name on his tongue. 'I see. So she is bothering you now.' Lucien pretended to be amazed. He knew his mates, were aware of the admiration he had for Whisper and yet he tried to seduce her without a shame. He was the Alpha in this relationship, he could do anything he pleased. ‘No, she is just trying to take away my husband, exactly what her kind does.' She walked closer to Lucien now standing face to face. Intimidated by the eyes of an Alpha her spirit Gamma forced her head down. Lucien could feel the poison of disgust in her words when he mentioned, the kind, she despised the most. ‘Trust me darling, she is not trying, she is succeeding.' He removed his dress shoes placing them beside the bed, not appearing guilty or regretful. Raina was hurt. The fact that her husband had admiration for another woman was a wound, but something that burned her wounds was, he accepted it like it was nothing troublesome. ‘Titania and I hate her. Because she is trying to steal our love. Who are we kidding.' She shook her head with one humorless laugh. 'For you are the one getting yourself stolen.' ‘Exactly why I go to her, Raina. She can intimidate you, the Luna and who is she? An Omega who knows how to hold a sword.' Lucien laughed. A laugh that stabbed the dagger into the Raina's chest. If she had the heart to do it, she would start using real weapons instead of words. ‘Yes, we are scared of her. We are the royal Delta and Gamma while she is a mere Omega. Yet we can't defend our love against her.' Raina sat beside Lucien on the bed. She had learned to accept the fact, that this was out of her control. Yet the fact didn't hurt any less. ‘Glad you know who you are.' Lucien said. The wounds were burned again, because now Lucien stated it clearly that Whisper was better than his mates. Raina, always knew it that Whisper was better than them, but when Lucien said it, it still hurt. ‘Are you not ashamed, Lucien?' Raina asked him. It hurt her, that Lucien accepted his admiration for a lady without feeling the disgrace. ‘Are you not ashamed of telling your wife about your admiration for another woman.’ ‘No, for you two weren't my choice. You were forced on me at the Lilac Moon festival.' Lucien replied. He had stated it on numerous occasions, that he was not in love with anybody he was blessed with at the festival. Yet, whenever his desire overwhelmed him, he came to them. ‘How I wish I was a slut like Whisper is.' That night Raina got slapped but that pain was not even close to what she felt in her heart. ………….................................................................................... ‘That is a deep cut.’ Edith gasped, looking at the wound on her daughter's neck. She wiped the blood away with a clean piece of cloth flinching while doing it. Edith was not a warrior, at least that was what everybody thought. But she was one, because a mother who is able to send her children somewhere she knows, they might get hurt, is no less than a mother. ‘I've had worse.' Whisper replied while pulling her mother's hand away from the wound. She hated getting her scars touched, it offended her. Edith, quite known to the fact didn't make another attempt. The most touchy subject to Whisper was her wounds, she dreaded the day they will be revealed to someone. Because when someone sees your wounds they become aware of the spots that are weak, spots of defeat. 'How long are you two staying?’ Edith questioned. From the moment they became the troop heads, they hardly came home. Sometimes Edith feared that they wouldn't come at all. Just like Titania and Raina, Lucien came to them so rarely, they feared he'd stop coming at all. ‘A couple of days, The Lilac Moon festival is to arrive our duties have certainly increased. You know the barriers are open to all during the time.' Whisper informed. The Ebony Woods were like an open chest this time around, because it was a rule, to not close any barrier during the time. Which meant Rogues and protestors could create giant chaos. Beside Vampire leaders visited the castle this time. ‘The festival, which reminds me, you haven't found your mate, yet.' Edith reminded. Whisper loathed this discussion. Her mother was desperate for her daughter to find her mate. Whisper hardly looked for one. All she saw was her sword and duty, nothing else mattered. But Edith loved to bring up the fact that Whisper still has her freedom. ‘Probably because I am not looking for one.' She sighed, wanting to make sure her mother doesn't bring it up again. But Whisper has received her tenacity from somewhere. ‘Whisper, I know you don't like this. But everyone is destined with someone.' Edith placed her hand over Whisper's arm. She was worried for her daughter, because Whisper was running from everything. She was running from the world, the destiny and herself. But one day she'll be tired and that day it'll be hard to accept that, the things she avoided were right behind her. Whisper couldn't deny her destiny. Once she found her mate, she may have to leave her passion behind. Edith always tried to make her aware of that fact, so it becomes easier to accept it, when it comes. ‘What do you mean?' Whisper questioned very well aware of the meaning. But she liked to avoid it. She knew she couldn't stop anything and yet she pretended that she had already stopped it. ‘That, probably this festival, you might find your mate.' She stated. Whisper dreaded the day she'll find her mate. Because her mate would want control of her, he'd want her to submit. She could do anything but submit, she'd rather die. 'He would want you to leave your passion behind; I just want you to be aware of that fact.’ Whisper wanted to run. She was brave in the battlefield, but a coward to herself. She liked to run from the facts, because those facts kept her trapped and forced her to submit. These facts pulled her back into her reality, where she was still an Omega. ‘She wouldn't submit, she is braver than that.' Saige said being well aware of the conversation the pair shared. He had trained his daughter to not submit, and now if she did in the name of love, he'll be let down. He liked to run from some facts himself one of them was that Whisper's mate wouldn't think what Saige thought. ‘I need to meet Christian.' Whisper quickly avoided the situation just like always and left the room without another word. ‘Stop keeping her in an illusion.' Edith told her husband. She accepted the fact that Whisper wouldn't get the same treatment from her mate, which she got from her father. But Saige was too afraid to accept that the things he kept his daughter from, were attacking her. ‘Her mate wouldn't make her submit.' He declared more to himself rather than to Edith. ‘Yes, he will. You made me too didn't you?’ ……………...................................................................... ‘Christian.’ Whisper called while entering the door of the Lunar Deity shrine. That was where Christian lived, like a true saint. She walked towards the deity sculpted into the stones of that cave. There were a couple of people praying to the goddess. She was a lady surrounded by five, winged horses, believed to represent the five phases of the moon. Everything in that sculpture depicted something, the ankle-length hair of the deity depicted gladness. Her dress was sculpted, in form a short curvy tunic and quiver hanging down her shoulders. The clothes represented purity, virginity and the hunt. It was an irony how her clothes depicted virginity, but she was still seen as a seductress. Sometimes Whisper wondered why she would make a constitution that had no use. The myths said, she made it to avoid suppression of any kind, while her kind's life revolved around submission. When she turned she saw Christian painting on a vase, his back facing her. He painted his ideas of gods and philosophies on the vase and then kept them in the temple for others to see. Some of his vase depicted stories and others depicted his beliefs. Whisper believed that his art was what bought peace in this shrine, rather than the sculpture of Lunar Deity. ‘How are you, Christian?' She asked and the man nodded, not taking his eyes off the work he was doing. His focus was wonderful, how his eyes never left the job he was doing, as if meditating with open eyes. That was why, she learned dousing her Omega from him. ‘I am as good as any old man should be. How are you, Whisper?' He answered. She wasn't surprised when he realized who stood behind him without turning around. It was his job after all. 'You look troubled.’ ‘I am.' She sighed and sat on the white marble floor in front of Christian. She saw him move his brush across the edge and paint it blue. Blue, the color that represented her situation at that moment the best. ‘What happened?' He asked. Though, he could tell what thoughts were eating her alive. ‘Christian, what if I found my mate.' She questioned. Christian had trained her to control her spirit, so he was the closest one to her. She could tell him, her worries and he always showed her a way. 'I'll have to leave the troop. He'd make me submit.’ Christian placed the vase on the floor along with his paint brush. He looked at Whisper, whose face held clear signs of worry. But Christian he was as calm as an ocean. As he looked at Whisper with eyes of adoration and pride. ‘You know, Whisper. The moment I had touched Edith's womb I sensed a miracle. You were born a warrior and no one can take it away from you. Nothing can come between you and the motive you were born with. Your passion is your blood, and nobody can stop it until your heart does.’ …………………………………………….. After being rejected at the door of Raina, Lucien walked to the room right beside Raina's, Titania's boudoir. She would never refuse Lucien; Titania lived for the attention of Alpha unlike Raina who had a little self-respect. ‘You shouldn't have slapped Raina.' Titania said. She was sitting on the edge of her bed, her back facing the Alpha. Lucien had barely entered the room and he already wanted to leave. He expected submission not suggestion, from Titania. ‘You shouldn't tell me what to do.' Lucien retorted kicking his dress shoes away. Titania's spirit Delta was shivering as Lucien looked wrathful. He was rejected, and the only rejection, that he spared was the one given by Whisper. Other rejections were insults Lucien shall never forget. ‘How did you know that?' Lucien asked, removing his purple satin cape. He was surprised that Titania wasn't delighted to have him here; she used to be elated by his presence anywhere around her. ‘I heard it.' She chuckled curtly, just the sound of it was enough for Titania to know the amount of wrath behind it. ‘Very well.' Lucien sighed, putting back his shoes ready to leave, well aware that Titania would insist him to stay. ‘Please, don't go.' Titania jumped and looked behind herself, afraid that Lucien would leave, and another night will be spent separately instead. ‘There is the Titania I know.’ He smirked walking closer to her. He leaned closer to her. His lips brushed against her earlobe slow and seductively.‘I didn't slap her because she called Whisper a slut. I did, because Raina said she wanted to be Whisper and no one can be Whisper.’ ………….............................................................
