SURVIVER OF THE FITTEST😰
🔥 tags: *Suspense/Thriller + Fantasy + Kickass Heroine + Teenage + Hot-blooded*, here’s a long, hooky opening: --- SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST CHAPTER ONE The siren didn’t scream. It _laughed_. A low, metallic cackle rolled through the sky above New Elaria City, bouncing off the broken skyscrapers and the empty streets. 17-year-old *Kael Voss* knew what that sound meant. The Trials were starting early. “Get down!” she shouted, grabbing her little brother’s arm and yanking him into the alley. Dust and ash fell from the sky like dirty snow. Above them, drones with red eyes swept the rooftops, scanning. Judging. This wasn’t a war. Wars had rules. This was _selection_. Three years ago, the world didn’t end with bombs. It ended with a message broadcast to every screen: _“Resources are limited. Humanity must evolve. Only the fittest will survive.”_ And then the government vanished. The rich bought bunkers. And the rest of us? We got the Trials. Every 6 months, every city sends its teenagers into the Arena. No weapons. No parents. No second chances. Win, and your family eats for a year. You get water, medicine, power. Lose… and you don’t come back. Kael wasn’t supposed to be in this one. She was 17. The cutoff was 18. But when her mom got sick last winter, Kael forged the papers. Someone had to fight. Her brother, Jace, 11, clutched her sleeve. “You promised you wouldn’t go in,” he whispered, voice shaking. Kael forced a smile and ruffled his hair. Hot-blooded and stubborn was the only way she’d survived this long. “And I promised I’d keep you alive. Same thing.” The ground shook. The massive steel gates at the center of the plaza began to rise, screeching. Inside was darkness. And cheering. Thousands of voices watching from screens all over the country, betting, laughing, _hungry_ for blood. Other teens were already moving. Some crying. Some praying. Some like her — jaw set, eyes cold. The kickass ones. The ones who refused to die. A voice boomed from the sky. Mechanical. Godlike. *“WELCOME TO THE TRIALS. RULES ARE SIMPLE. SURVIVE 7 DAYS. ONLY 10% WILL LEAVE.”* A countdown appeared on every wall: `07:00:00:00` Kael took one last look at Jace, pressed her mother’s broken necklace into his hand, and stepped forward. The moment she crossed the line into the gate, the world changed. The air turned cold. The lights died. And somewhere in the dark, something growled. This wasn’t about luck. This wasn’t about being the strongest. It was about being the one willing to do what the others weren’t.
