The Troubled Boy V

“Four!” He kept calling to me, so I kept ignoring him like a normal day. The loud music was making me angrier than usual. The bass of the music, it was beating against my chest like a boom box. It was massive loud. “Four!” “WHAT?” I finally stopped walking, and frantically turned to face the seagull with a frown. Although, he didn’t really deserve to be yelled at for putting up with Hunter, but he was still at a f*****g party trying to blend in like he was one of them. I wasn’t even admitting that I was one of these sick retarded people and here he was, thinking he could be like them. What a f*****g delusional. “Are you leaving already?” He asked even if he just saw me about to step out of the house. I arched a brow at him, wondering if he was actually serious about his stupid question. I glanced briefly at the door to gesture him and show him my answer without verbally saying it out loud. “Do you have a brain?” He squinted his eyes for a moment. “Y-Yes..?” “Of course, you do. Everyone has it.” I leaned closer to him to emphasize my point, which I think he was slowly getting from my sentences. “That’s how stupid your question is. Do you get it?” He chuckled, bobbing his head. “Well, do you wanna grab some coffee before you go home?” “N—” Coffee? I could definitely f*****g use a warm coffee in my body right now. I had to sober up before I head to work the night shift again after all so, goddamn, coffee sounded like it wasn’t a bad idea. He leaned closer, hopeful that I would say yes. “Is that a—” “Thirty minutes,” I said marching out the house and letting him follow me as we headed to the closest open café from the house party. Thankfully, 7/11 are a thing. And their coffee’s s**t but it’s not like there were any decent cafés open at this time of night. It was also the closest. I didn’t want to spend more f*****g time walking with this kid and give him false hopes just because I was being reasonably needy for caffeine. We both sat on the dining tables outside. He landed a cup of coffee across me, and I could see the steam coming out from the rim of the cup. He smiled and sat across me as I began blowing on the drink and sipping some. The refreshing warm drink immediately sobered me up. And made my whole body warm and free from the alcohol and drug I’ve been taking inside my bloodstream. When I decided I wanted to gaze at Mark, he was already looking at me with a big smile on his face. “The f**k are you looking at?” He shook his head innocently. “I didn’t think you’d say yes and come drink with me.” I looked away, sighing before taking another sip off my coffee. “This is not exactly my ideal first date but I guess it could work out?” I almost choked on my drink. I hadn’t realized he would take it that way. A f*****g date? A f*****g date, my ass. “This is not a date.” I said, squinting my eyes at him while kept making his smile even bigger. “You’re so f*****g creepy. Can you stop smiling?” “Is it bad to smile when you’re enjoying your time with someone you like?” I froze. “You… like… to be friends with..?” He cleared his throat, looking away. “You like to be friends with, of course.” He let out an awkward chuckle. I can tell he was trying to implicate something but that was beyond my energy to care for at the moment. I just enjoyed the ugly tasting coffee I’m currently having. “Sure.” “So, Hunter…” Hunter, again? “He was really getting on your—” “Can we stop talking about that dickhead?” I cut him off, before this conversation becomes completely about him again. Hunter just wasn’t worth talking about. That shithead already gets enough attention. Talking about him without him around just proves he was getting the attention he wanted from everyone. “Yeah… right…” “I’m done.” I stood from my seat and stepped away from the table. “Get straight home and never show your face at a party like this again.” He nodded and smiled. “Okay… Good night.” I turned away and started walking until he said something that made me stop walking, possibly made my heart stop for a moment as well. “Thank you, Forest.”
