I closed my eyes and prayed for a miracle, and the Lord instantly made one. Before the man could rummage through me, I heard a loud clang on his head and then he screamed loudly. “What do you think you are doing?” The familiar lady like voice asked. They all crumbled away in the dark, they ran, though it was quite tough for the one with the unbuckled trousers, he staggered as he ran down the street, his pants got in his way all the time, he fell and he rolled. In another circumstance I would have laughed instead I groaned from pain that I felt on my hands. “ Yes run, you fools, cowards,” Isolde screamed at them. “ Are you okay? I heard the commotion below my window and came out to help ” She asked me, I quickly nodded, then we sat down on the veranda. “ If you are here to laugh at me, please save it for..,” “ Before I came here, I met this young man from an esteemed family, we were in love, until he posted my nudes too, my family disowned me as they were strong Christians, so did my friends,” She cut me off with pain evident in her voice. “ He was handsome, hot, rich and everything I thought I needed, until he played that move, so trust me, i know how you feel, that’s how i ended up behind these lonely walls,” she continued. “ I am sorry, I didn’t know,” I said feeling guilty for everything I’d made her pass through, you really can never know what someone is carrying inside. “The church welcomed me, healed me, after I ran here from my country.. Spain,” she explained further. “You need to go away too, to another country and start a new life, change your name and everything,” she explained. “But how do I do that, i hardly have any money,” I explained. “I am going to refer you to someone who can help you,” she said as she pulled out a piece of sticker note and a pen, she scribbled down something. “ Take it to him, he will know what to do,” she said as she got up ready to leave while handing the paper over to me. “ Oh and another thing, tiptoe back to your room and spend the night inside because mother superior has traveled otherwise no hotel will house you,” she said as she walked away. “Why are you helping me?” I asked out of curiosity, she raised her middle finger over her head to me. I chuckled as she got lost in plain sight. I opened the note, help her, with her sign on it scribbled down unto it, I folded it carefully back to my bag. I carried my bag and slowly made my way back to my room. I creaked the door open, the dark room stood in front of me, I couldn’t dare switch the lights on not to be caught or noticed, I walked towards the darkness , I tossed my suitcase in the corner and rested myself on the small bed. I knew the room too well, I’d been there for the last twelve years, even before I was a nun. Immediately I had lay down, sleep overpowered me and made me realize how tired I’d been for the whole night. My whole body ached, my stomach rumbled remaining me how hungry I was, I just needed to get by. I was jolted awake by Isolde’s whispering. “Wake up,” she said as she shook my aching body. I wished every thing was one big dream. “ You have to leave, before everyone gets up for mass,” she muttered. I understood what she meant, I looked at the windows, light was threatening to peek the them. I quickly got up and picked my bag. But before I could leave, Isolde touched in her pocket robes and pulled out a one hundred dollar note. “ Use this for food and transport, go at the Bay Area, Look for Elijah , then give him the note,” She explained. It’s crazy how some one you absolutely hate can be your life changer or helper. I threw my bag on the floor, then I quickly ran to her and pulled her into a tight hug, she jolted back, I’d caught her off notice. I wrapped my hands around her, I was totally grateful for all that she’d done for me, she rubbed my back, a tear dropped from my eye. I withdrew from her . Looking at her face , her blue watery eyes fought had to hold the tears back, “Thank you,” I Whispered. She nodded. “Now, go,” she whispered urging me to go, I realized that in that moment I’d found a sister, one that I’d yearned to have for a long time and I was going to lose her at the same time. I carried my bags, creaked the door open, and inspected for anyone else, seeing that no one was outside, I quickly creeped out into the dim morning, the morning cold washed over my face making my ears freeze cold. I remembered to cover myself, soon I was out of the monastery, unto the bus waiting area, when the bus arrived, we hoped on, me and the rest of the passengers who waited , maybes they were running away from something or towards something. I stared at the window as the bus drove passed the city I’d once loved and cherished, the only city I’d been too, the city I’d met love and was leaving it all behind, I felt my heart drop and break in one piece, I was leaving yet the thousand broken pieces of me were tagging behind, I remembered the last times I’d walked on the streets. We stopped mid way and the rest of the passengers got on, a man sat beside me, I stared hard to the window afraid of being noticed, afraid of being judged, afraid of my own past. Good thing he did not engage any conversation, soon we arrived at the Bay Area, I hoped off while pulling the scarf on my head further, afraid of being noticed, the sky was becoming clearer. I past the restaurant and the tantalizing smell of the food made me yearn for a big burger, but how would I order it, in a country where nothing was left un noticed. The stench of the ocean filled my nostrils, fish and algae mixed with fresh shrubs. I knew, I couldn’t order anything, I walked towards a man who was tying his boat. “Hey, Good morning Sir.” I whispered with a lowered gaze while trying to avoid him being noticed. “ Hey young lady, how may I be of assistance?” He asked as he struggled had to pull his boat. “I am looking for a certain Elijah, someone has sent me here,” I continued. He quickly stood straight and stared at me, I pulled out the paper , I showed it to him, he took it and scanned it. “Follow me.” He said with pity filled in his eyes.
