"This is the Alpha!" The time stiffened as her eyes locked on the man behind the desk, she could swear that his left eye twitched in surprise when their gaze met but it hardened immediately after she noticed. Her cheeks burned for staring so long at the half-masked man, Alpha King was masked! The left side of his face was covered with a golden mask, it covered his eyes down to his chin and clipped against his half chin. His black hair styled up highlighting his sharp features and her eyes lingered on his cold eyes. They were mesmerizing gray colors that would have been so beautiful if they weren't soulless. 'Was she supposed to be afraid of him?' She pondered. If anything yes but she found herself attracted to the man they all called ugly, he was nothing close to such. His mask was a unique identity on him, making him look dangerously beautiful, and leaving you curious about how he would have looked without it. "Why the shout?" She heard Hazel snapped behind her, and it dawned on her that she had shouted earlier. She looked around the room and shrunk at the hard glares thrown at her, especially the one coming across the room. She rubbed her hands together. "I'm...sorry, it's nothing." She apologized with a short bow. 'Keep your mouth shut, Amelia.' She chanted mentally. Alpha King rested his back on the chair, his cold gaze unwavering from her. "Come here," Alpha King's deep baritone traveled through the room. A shiver ran down her spine at his cold voice, she wished she could skip this step but there was no way around this, she forced herself to him and halted by his desk expecting his permission to sit but his next word threw her off-guard. "Spin." "Huh?" Her eyes bulged out. "I should do what?" King propped against the chair and fixed her a hard glare. "I believe you are not dumb." She blinked her eyes."But..." She begged staring at him for a while before her gaze went to Lopez and Hazel who were smiling at the drama then back at King who was unfazed. Was this it? He was going to embarrass her before them. She released a deep sigh and decided to spin when his sharp voice came up. King turned to them, "Leave us alone." He ordered before averting his gaze to her. "Sit!" She scrambled to the chair quickly, "Thank__ "I didn't do it for you." He snapped and she sunk back to the chair. He sat upright on the chair and crossed his arms on the desk, his cold eyes not swaying from her. "Look, I don't know why my father suggests your pack or why you, The Alpha of your pack decide to succumb to this marriage. I don't want it, and I will never want it!" Amelia's eyes shot up, confusion blanking her face. "Alpha? I'm__ "And who said you can talk?" He chided picking up a file and throwing it at her. "You don't talk without permission, now read that out loud." Amelia exhaled snapping the file open and re-adjust on the chair. "Clause 1: This is a contract marriage that will last for two years, and within the two years; Alpha King has every right to terminate the contract but the other party dare not try it." She stated glancing up at him which made their gaze meet, King arched her brow at her and she gulped back in fear, she quickly averted her gaze to the document. "We are only married before the pack, and at private we are nothing but a stranger to each other. I don't want you in my business but that doesn't mean I'm not in your business." The last line sent chills down her spine, but she continued. Nothing she couldn't handle, she was just going to avoid him like a plague and as it was going now, it seemed easy. "There will no s****l intercourse between us, we will do no such thing couples do like; dining together, sleeping together, playing or discussing together. And I will never love you." Amelia didn't know when a smile slipped onto her face at the first sentence, all her fear vanishing immediately, just what she prayed for; now she could keep herself for her mate. But why does her heart hurt reading the last part? Was she not worthy of love from anyone? She cleared her throat before continuing. "And lastly, you work for your money." She finished removing the pen attached to the file and put her signature on it. She closed it and dropped it on the desk. King raised his brow at her expecting her to speak up and when nothing came from her, he spoke up. "Are you that happy to marry me? You were smiling through the clauses." Amelia's eyes widened as she shook her head waving her hand. "No, that was not it__" He hissed shutting her up. "I don't care, but no one must know that we are in a contract marriage, and you have no right to tell anybody what is in the contract." He pushed the file closer to him and hid it in the shelf attached to his desk before lifting his gaze back to her. "Leave, Hazel will take you to your room." He added turning back at her. Amelia let herself out of the room and as he mentioned, Hazel was waiting for her by the door. Alpha King must have mind-linked her immediately after he dismissed her. She followed her without saying anything, they climbed down tons of stairs that Amelia wondered if it was ever going to end, Hazel eventually stopped before a shiny black wooden door and pulled it open. "This will be your room from now onward," Hazel announced as they stepped in. "Thank you," Amelia was amazed at the room, a queen-sized bed stood at the center of the white-painted room, a vanity table and chair were by the right and there were two doors by the left which she guessed would be the bathroom and the closet. "You like it?" Hazel arched her brow towards her. "This is not our very best room in the pack." "Like it." She chuckled turning to her. "I love it, this was better than the cold basement I sleep back at home." "Basement?" Hazel's eyes twitched, "Are you not a princess, then later the Alpha of your pack?" Amelia shared her sad smile. "I wish. I'm not even a normal princess and an Alpha?" She chuckled. "Not even close, maybe in my dream yes but in real life, that's a joke on me." Amelia saw that Hazel was wavering her words, Thomas must have spun good lies for them so as to sell her for a higher price, so not believing her was allowed. "Not everything looks as it seems, so I hope you open your heart to me." Hazel narrowed her gaze at her and sighed. "Just as you said, not everything looks as it seems, so is our Alpha. I hope you will open your heart to him." Amelia stared eyes wide at her. "What did you mean?" Hazel chuckled fixing her gaze on her. "Exactly what I said Amelia, open your heart to him and you will see beyond the mask." She repeated with an uptight face before shaking her head with a smile like she didn't just put Amelia in turmoil. "I will have the maid bring your food now." She said and Amelia could only nod, too shocked to speak. "Open your heart to him, Amelia." She repeated and closed the door behind her.
