Leyla's POV  I don't know how long I slept on Sophie's hand, letting the scent of her and the faint heartbeat I could feel begin to soothe me, but I woke with a start when I felt a new presence in the room. Even without the bond I knew who it was, the man I thought would never hurt me, but who had left me alone in my darkest time. Unrestrained by the normal influx of calm energy he always seemed to emit, I felt my anger flare. White hot and bursting like a boil that had just been lanced, it was the first emotion I had felt outside of despair in hours.  Sitting up and drying my eyes I met his eyes.
