Chapter 1: Love at first site
Fascinated, Bella followed the chirping of the birds circling the shores of the Fine Sand Beach Resort. They are white in color like herons, have sharp beaks and are probably related to the kingfisher.
A jet ski broke the silence of the morning. The wave that is left behind in each of its passageways ripples. The beautiful birds moved away until she could no longer see them. The sun is just rising. It was not yet hot on her skin. That's why she thought of laying a beach towel on the dry sand on the beach.
She is already in a bathing suit. She was wearing a pair of yellow and orange bikinis. She lay down for a while in the heat of the early morning sun . And when her fiancé, Edward, wakes up, she will invite him to take a bath.
They occupied the largest beach house resort. Last night they went there with their friends. The party also started that night after arriving. It will continue until that whole day.
It was a well-wishing party given by their close friends. Their shower and stag party last week are over. It was held at separate venues. And they will soon get married in just three days.
She had been lying there for twenty minutes when he saw the jet ski land on the shore. The man who was riding it got up. While walking, it removes the life vest it is wearing.
She focused on his face. She was stunned. It's like a god of beauty who came out of the sea. Some kind of power came over her when she looked into his dark eyes. Even though his facial expression was blank, those eyes were full of laughter, perfectly fitting the perfect shape of his sharp nose.
She got up. She swallowed because her throat seemed to be closed. And only then did she notice that she had stopped breathing.
Her chest pounded as she followed his gaze. What kind of crush is she feeling? And she's already twenty-four to be infatuated like a teenager.
"It's you're turn now," she heard the man say to another man who met him, handing him the life vest. The two look identically the same, maybe their brothers. Both of them are handsome, only the first man is more handsome.
"Join our big brother, his having his breakfast," said the person who greeted him
"What about you?"
"I've had coffee. The heavy breakfast will be later." They had passed her.
She could only see the back of the tall man, but she still didn't take her eyes off of him.
"Hello there."
She turned to the person who spoke from the opposite side of the beach towel she was sitting on, the man who greeted her crush. She frowned. Why is he talking to her?
"I'm Clyde. May I know you?" he asked her, smiling.
"W-why?" she answered still. Normally she would deal with it.
"Because I want to give you some advice."
She frowned. What madness is he referring to? "Why?" she repeated.
"Maybe you should answer me first. I asked for your name."
"I don't readily give my name to strangers." It shrugged its shoulders. "Suit yourself then. But I'll still give you some advice."
"And why would I need your advice?"
"Because my twin is turned off by women paying attention to him."
The handsome man is the twin brother of this man. Her frown deepened. The trunk of her bad side had been opened. "You're saying I'm paying attention to your twin, right?"
It wasn't intimidating at all. He smiled, looking at her intently. "Is it not?"
"Look, I don't have time-"
"I'm sorry" he grabbed what she was saying. "It turns out that my thoughts about the way you looked earlier at my brother were wrong. Now Miss Pretty Face, I'm gonna ride that toy." It pointed to the jet ski. "If you want your morning to be alive, you can ride with me."
"And you can disappear before my face. Jet-ski by yourself!"
He shook his head and just smiled at her. It headed towards the location of the jet ski.
Annoyed, she just stood up, put away the beach towel and returned to the beach house.
"You had your dip this early?" asked Edward, who was still wiping himself. It looks like it just came from the bathroom. The left corner of his mouth still has toothpaste foam.
"Not yet. I don't have anyone to take a shower with. It took you so long to wake up," she said, still a bit annoyed.
"Whoa! Looks like my Honey is in a bad mood today. Come on, let's take a shower."
Of all the things that she hates the most is being teased, even if she's being serious. That's why she scolded the man on the beach, because that's what he was doing. And now it was Edward.
"I don't want to. I've lost my appetite."
"Honey, our wedding is coming soon. I don't want you to get wrinkles. Please don't frown."
He went to her and put his arm around her. "Let's take a bath before the heat of the sun burns the skin."
She removed his arm from her. "Take a bath by yourself!" she went up the stairs to the room she occupied.
"Honey, come on, don't be like that."
She ignored Edward's protest. When she entered the room, she immediately took a shower. she just sulked there. She looked at the beach from the picture window. But she never saw the handsome man again.
What is happening to me? She was about to marry Edward, her boyfriend for three years, but here she was, eagerly awaiting a man she had just seen. Weird. When she was hungry, she was forced to leave the room.
"Where's Edward?" she said to her friends who were already busy decorating the big hall of the beach house for the party."At the beach," answered her closest friend, Meg. She's a lifeguard at that resort. It is currently putting decorative balloons on the wall. "The boys are taking a bath. Have your breakfast already."
"Have you eaten?"
"We are through. You're the only one who hasn't. Edward came with us earlier."
She went to the kitchen. She was hungry but she seemed to have lost her appetite. She will have breakfast alone.
She thought of eating only at the resort's restaurant. At least there are probably still a lot of people eating there. Even if she can't sit beside them, at least she'll feel like she's eating with someone.
She left the beach house and went to the restaurant. It's a bit far, but that's fine with her.
The walk did her good. Her bad mood was gone by the time she reached the dining room. She took a spot by the window. Only a few are eating. It was almost nine o'clock. Most people have finished breakfast. The food she ordered had not yet been served when she noticed the man who had talked to her earlier on the beach had entered the restaurant. He immediately saw her and waved. She didn't pay attention to it.
But the man was really hardheaded. Even though she made it clear that she didn't want to join him or even talk to him, he still sat at the table she occupied. "Mind if I join you, Miss Beautiful?" he asked, smiling as he sat down.
"Yes, I would mind," she said frankly. She was sure that the look on her face was enough to make him leave and not disturb her again.
Judas's smile widened as if what she was saying was a compliment to him.
"All right, have it your way."
She was very grateful when he stood up and moved to the table. That's just it, the table he approached was next to her table. He sat in front of her.
She is very irritated while eating. Because every time her eyes strayed to the opposite side, she'd see him staring at her. She almost hit him.
But she stopped herself from doing it. Nothing will happen if she consumes herself in disgust. It's okay to squint when staring. Just don't make a mistake in disturbing her.
Her irritation was focused on the food, so she attacked it without any hesitation. She then realized that she had finished her breakfast.
She signaled the waitress for her bill. That's when the man at the other table stood up. He came to her again. "You have the most pleasant face I've ever seen in a woman," he said formally in a low tone. "And it's not a bad thing to make it smile, especially if you can make even one person around you happy." He smiled slightly and then left her.
She didn't react right away. Even after he left the restaurant, she seemed shocked that she just kept her eyes on his distant bulk. For the first time, someone dared to block her. And she didn't even have a say in it.
"MEG, I'm sorry for Edward's behavior, you know that one is stubborn." Bella said to her friend. She had just left the beach house. She escaped her boyfriend's forced drinking. She was on duty that afternoon at the resort, so she went first.
Edward was a bit drunk. He's insisting Meg to take another shot. Her friend refused but Edward still insisted on the wine. Fortunately, when Meg put the glass down, she immediately left the hall where the party was being held. Her boyfriend stopped nagging. So she followed Meg outside.
Her friend smiled at her. "I know. And I also know how much he loves you."
"Right. That's why I'm going to marry him." As her and Edward's wedding approaches, she seems to want to run away from it. Anyway, she loves her boyfriend. He also loves her very much. Her parents also approved of their relationship. And the family it belongs to is very rich.
But that's when she realized that it wasn't enough, that love no matter what. The approval of her parents on Edward was not a sufficient reason, even though he was very rich.
"You still have time, you know." Meg's look at her was like a searcher. Maybe she could read her unclear thoughts.
"What are you trying to say?"
"I mean, if you still have a little doubt about marrying Edward, there's still time to think about it. Then call it quits if you have to."
"Just three days and we'll get married."
"So what? What do you want, throw yourself at him even though you realize you don't really want to marry him?"
She smiled, a lame smile. "You know what? I might take your advice for that. Now go, you're late."
She headed back inside the beach house. The party was loud. She had fun with their friends. Edward and almost all the men there were drunk.
As she watched her boyfriend, a decision gradually formed in her mind.
Bella had been enjoying herself for an hour in the middle of the party when she decided to leave. She left the beach house.
The sun was hot but she didn't care. It was as if someone was pulling her feet towards the beach.
Her chest suddenly thumped when she saw someone leaning on the lounge chair. So that's why she was drawn to go there, the handsome man was there.
She felt the urge to approach and introduce herself to him. She walked towards her. She was even more excited to go near him. She was almost there when a woman suddenly approached him. The woman is beautiful, only flirtatious if she smiles, and it's only in G-strings.
Grinning, she stopped coming closer.
"Hi, are you alone?" he heard the woman ask the handsome man.
"No, I'm not," the man replied.
"You're with friends?"
"I'm with my family."
"Your parents?" The woman is obviously used to such conversation. It was still smiling even though there was no indication of any encouragement the man was showing it.
"No, my wife," the latter answered again and sneered at the woman above the lifeguard outpost.
The woman's reaction was like a dim light bulb. But in her situation, it was as if she was a light bulb that went off after the man answered. Because the girl above the outpost is Meg.
She felt as if she had been slapped with that realization. That's why he was not interested in the flirting of the woman talking to him. He likes Meg. And she was sure Meg didn't know it yet, but he had already referred to her as his "wife".
