Kendrick felt his wolf sprinting through the forest in pure ecstasy. He ran alongside someone, and the scent of that person was intoxicating.
His wolf inhaled deeply, savoring the smell of chocolate and wet rocks. He stopped at a clearing and howled towards the moon in the sky.
His silver fur tingled as he felt this person touch his fur. The smell of chocolate and wet rocks filled his nostrils as he turned.
Then he saw her. She was radiant, just like the full moon above them. Her hair glowed in the dark and her eyes were brilliant as they stared at him. There was a sweet smile on her lips as she whispered.
"You can protect me." Her voice as soothing as the cool breeze ruffling his fur. He moved closer to her, still in his enormous wolf form and nudged her with his massive head. He whined, as if needing something.
The girl obliged and ran her hands through his fur and behind his ears. The beast purred softly and lowered its massive form to the ground. He heard the whisper again. "You can protect me."
It lingered in his ears as he felt himself shifting, his fur receding and giving way to his human side until he stood in his human form holding her close to him.
He nuzzled her hair and breathed in her scent, his arm tightening around her waist, wishing he could stay like that forever.
The whisper reached his ears again. "You can protect me..."
...
Kendrick's eyelids fluttered and slowly opened. He blinked slowly and a frown appeared on his face when his ears caught the echo of a familiar voice fading off.
"You can protect me..."
He sat up abruptly and shook his head. It was the voice from his dream. He remembered vaguely the appearance of the girl, her glowing hair and radiant eyes. Who was she?
That was a question he didn't have the answers to.
He swung his legs over the bed and got up. It was morning already and the sun was shining brightly through the curtains. He mind linked his beta.
[Leo]
[Yes Alpha] Leo's reply came instantly as if he had been expecting his Alpha's call.
[Find out from the seekers when the Sisters Of The Night will arrive]
[Got it]
[And set a reminder for the invite of the royal witches]
[On it Alpha]
[One more thing. Notify the white witches. I'll be paying a visit to them today before the celebration]
[Yes Alpha]
Kendrick closed the mind link, trying to convince himself that he wasn't going there just so he could see the daughter who had returned.
He stepped into the bathroom still pondering on the dream he had and thinking about the girl. With a scowl, he blocked her from his mind. She was meaningless to him, just his imagination. He felt she was a distraction as he hadn't found his mate.
He took a quick bath and changed into black pants and a grey turtleneck sweater. He grabbed his keys and walked down to the garage. He needed to clear his mind and he decided to take one of his cars instead of shifting.
[Jack] he barked at his gamma through the mind link.
[Yes sir, Alpha] Jack responded in his usual annoying way.
[Meet me at the garage]
[On my way.]
Jack must have sensed something in Kendrick's voice because he didn't fool around for once. He dropped the paper work he had been assigned to do and walked briskly towards the garage.
He met Kendrick already there and he reached up to catch the keys which was thrown at him. Looking at Kendrick, one would think he was in his late twenties when he was actually 389years old.
"Where to Alpha?" He asked as they got into the sleek Range Rover sport. It purred to life as Jack turned on the ignition. The Marshall's family were one of the richest in the supernatural realm and Kendrick was currently the sole heir to the whole fortune. It wasn't a surprise then to note that all the unmated shewolves of the realm competed to be his mate.
"The home of the white witches." Kendrick answered, shutting his eyes. "I want to congratulate them for the safe return of their lost daughter before the celebration."
"She wasn't really lost Alpha." Jack started to say, but when he saw Kendrick's hard glare through the overhead mirror, he shut his mouth and drove out of the garage.
...
Serena awakened slowly, examining her surrounding. The early morning sunrays brightened the room and she knew instantly she wasn't in her room. A small smile appeared on her lips as she remembered that this was Xavier's room.
They had chatted far into the night and dozed off. It had been two weeks since she arrived at her home and she still had a lot of things to share with her twin, to make up for the time they were separated.
She tried to get up but she was pulled back playfully. She laughed at Xavier's failed attempt to hold her down.
"Get off me, Xavier." She chuckled. "I have to go to my room and take a shower. And this is becoming a habit."
"I don't mind." Xavier mumbled, his eyes still closed. He didn't mind if his sister switched to staying in his room. He was just at peace now that she was finally here.
"Come on." Serena protested, then picked a pillow and hit him in the face.
"Ouch!" Xavier yelled. "I'm going to get you."
"Catch me if you can." Serena yelled back and sprinted to her room which was just the next door. She squealed and shut the door just as Xavier marched out of his room. Turning the lock, she smiled smugly as Xavier rattled the door knob.
She turned towards the bathroom, intent on taking a bath when suddenly, she screamed.
Xavier was standing right in front of her, with a smirk on his face.
"How did you do that?" She asked in astonishment.
"Just a simple spell." Xavier said, his smirk growing wider. "Did you really think you could escape from me?"
"You have to teach me how to do it." Serena pulled him towards the bed and stood beside him.
"It's called teleporting and you already know how to do it." Xavier replied. "It's in you, just like it's in me. It comes with our blood line, a gift from the moon goddess. Kind of like the simplest magic spell known to witches."
Serena knew all about the moon goddess, thanks to her numerous questions.
"How do I do it then?" She asked.
"Just imagine it. Imagine your powers coursing through your body and just do it."
"I don't need a spell for this?"
Xavier shook his head. "Just imagine."
Serena closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She visualized teleporting herself from her bed to the door, her powers flowing through her body. She felt the brush of wind on her body but nothing else.
"I don't think I got it..." She started to say when she opened her eyes and found herself on the other side of the door, outside her room.
Xavier opened the door, grinning at her with admiration.
"You did it." He said happily. "And on your first try."
"I did it!" Serena squealed in excitement and jumped happily on Xavier. They both fell to the floor inside the room.
"It's amazing." She said unbelievably. "I never thought having powers like this would be so cool. I thought it was a curse. You have to teach me the rest." She added excitedly, pushing her hair out of her eyes
"Serena I told you, I don't have to teach you." Xavier stated. "You already have it inside you."
