Sophie Lowry was a bundle of energy. Michael had worked with a lot of reporters before, but they were mainly local reporters: politics beat reporters with the Omaha World-Herald, Capitol reporters with the Lincoln Journal-Star, and 6 o’clock news reporters with local television stations. Lowry was something else. Every question was followed by another question, which then was a lead-in to a new question. When walking and talking, she would speed up a few steps at what looked like her natural speed, her fiery red curls bouncing as she bounded, then she would have to slow down to stay with whoever she was walking next to. She would repeat this process over and over again. Michael could tell Nebraska was going to be an adjustment for her.
