“And so we thank our God or Gods or lack thereof for the blessings we have been given, and we hope for both good luck and good works as we endeavor together as a state of individuals, all looking for our own good,” the Unitarian Universalist minister said from the front of the legislative chamber. “Amen,” answered all the legislators. “The clerk will now call the roll,” Speaker Holtz said from the speaker’s podium. Bob Cantor sat at his desk, looking over his notes. He took a deep breath as the clerk finished calling roll. “Now we have an announcement from Senator Cantor,” the Speaker then announced.
