“Yeah,” he finally answered.
She smiled, a tinge of pain in her eyes.
“It’s alright,” she said, “I saw somebody, you can too.”
He continued playing with the silverware.
“Well,” she probed, “what’s she like?”
Michael gave her a pointed look.
“Jane,” he said to her flatly.
“Oh come on,” Jane said to him, “I just want to make sure you’re spending your time with someone worthwhile! Or are you just looking for a simple girl after someone who couldn’t be simple enough for you?”
