Carolina's POV
"Sir, I need to get my bag and change out of this red dress," I replied sadly, but Mr. Karen summoned two security men to throw me out.
"Hey, don't touch me!" I screamed as the two security men walked up to me. They held my arms and carried me out of the club.
"Hey! Put me down!" I shouted, but the security men acted deaf and dropped me outside the club.
"Leave here! You're not welcome," they said before striding back inside.
Stunned, I feared I had brought bad luck to my best friend, Lucy. But she wasn't fired.
Standing on my feet, I dusted my arms and legs and waited for Lucy to close so I could get my handbag. It contained my phone and clothes. I couldn't go back home in this revealing red dress.
What would I explain to my mother? So I paced in front of the club, waiting for Lucy to finish.
"Hey! What are you still doing here? Leave!" the security man at the entrance yelled at me, but I replied bluntly, "I need my bag. I am not going anywhere without it."
The club entrance burst open, and two men in black suits walked out like business partners. I was stunned because one of them was the same handsome man I had spoken with earlier.
"Hey, are you alright?" the man rushed over to me, seeing my embarrassed state. I was sure he had seen me being thrown out. So I lowered my head as he approached.
I was so uncomfortable in the red dress I was wearing. The man took off his black coat and draped it around my shoulders.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you do not have to do this. Just help me tell them to return my bag," I said to the attractive stranger. I didn't know who he was, but he seemed wealthy, even though I could feel the icy demeanor emanating from his sharp gaze.
"Your bag. Where is it?" he asked, glancing around in search of it. I pointed at the entrance of the opulent clubhouse.
"In there."
"Bright! Who is she?" the second man in black suit asked the attractive man before me, making me learn his name as he walked up to us.
"I do not know her, but I saw her earlier when I arrived, and I was waiting for you too. Do you work here?" Bright asked, shifting his attention back to me. As he stood next to me, his gaze crawled over my skin and pinned me intensely.
"No… I wanted to work here, but I was thrown out," I muttered, and his gaze narrowed.
"By who? Come with me. Gabriel, we will see later," Bright said as he firmly clasped my left hand and led me back into the club. I was stunned and confused. I didn't know him.
"Sir, you do not have to worry. I do not want my friend to lose her job because of me," I told him, but he already clasped my hand and led me inside.
Surprisingly, the security men didn't refuse me entry, nor did they stop the man.
'Who is he? Why is he trying to help me?' I wondered as I followed him into the club.
"Who threw you out?" Bright asked, even as the music was loud. I could hear him. However, I saw Mr. Karen and pointed at him immediately.
"He's the boss. I only want to take my bag, and I cannot do what he says," I said, my gaze lowered.
"Karen," Bright called, and my eyes widened at the way he said the manager's name.
The manager rushed to meet us and looked at me in shock.
"Boss, what is the matter? Do you need anything?" Mr. Karen asked, looking from me to Bright worriedly.
"Do you know this woman?" Bright asked, still holding my left hand firmly by the wrist.
Karen looked at me as I looked at him too.
"Yes, Boss. I was trying to help her, but she is chasing our clients," he explained.
"How did she refuse to help your client?" Bright asked, his voice stern. I looked from him to Karen.
"Sir, she was rude and didn't want to serve the guest," Karen said, unable to explain the real deal.
"Is that true, miss?" Bright asked, now looking at me.
I met his red eyes, which I hadn't noticed from outside due to the darkness.
I was surprised because his eyes were red, like he was angry or had been shedding tears.
"Um, I cannot sleep with a stranger. That is why he sacked me. He says that I will have to sell my body to please the clients," I said, pulling my hand away. My arms wrapped around my chest.
"Mm… it's not compulsory that you must do that. And is this why you dismissed her and threw her out? Where is her bag?" Bright inquired, and Mr. Karen looked at me.
"I do not know, boss. Where is your bag, miss?" he asked, and I looked at Lucy, who was staring at me in surprise.
"On the second floor," I replied, recalling that I had given my bag to Lucy to keep for me.
"Go and get it, and I will wait for you," Bright said, and I looked surprised.
'Wait for me? Why should he wait?' Anyway, I went back to find Lucy, and she went up to the second floor and brought my bag.
Once I got my bag, I knew I didn't have time to change. I apologized to Lucy. "I am sorry."
"It's fine, Caro… but how did you meet the boss?"
"The boss? Who is he?" I asked her, but saw the man looking at me.
My cheeks unknowingly flushed, and I smiled at him before looking back at Lucy.
"I need to hurry back and return his coat," I said, and she nodded.
"You can go to my house. Here's the spare key." Lucy gave her key to me, but I pushed it back to her.
"You hold it. I will wait until you close from work," I told her, knowing she closed late.
"It's two keys, Caro. Take it. I might not be coming back on time, and I have a client to meet with," Lucy said. I looked at her face, wondering if this was worth it.
"You have to go and not keep the boss waiting. Later, you will tell me where you met him," Lucy said while she quickly walked away before I could explain. I sighed, looked back at the man who was still waiting for me.
I walked over to meet him and pulled his black coat off to return it.
"Here's your coat, sir. Thanks for your help," I told him, wanting to leave. He asked, "Wait, what's your name?"
