Chapter 16 Brett Ebsworth and Associates occupied a sixth floor office in a dreary old building on the edge of the CBD. The office was similarly cheerless, and if Gina had not twice recommended that I contact them, just the low tone of the office would have probably made me leave, without pursuing any business. It was as bad as that. The reception area was unattended, and I had to call out before a largish, older woman appeared. Her face was unsmiling and rather weathered, and there was a suggestion of toughness in her bored expression. I was intruding into whatever she had been doing.
