Chapter Three - A mate arrives

1248 Words
Fae woke to her friend groaning in frustration. “She must be thinking about her brother” Fae thought sadly. She had told Sam that she would make another plan, but Sam was adamant. She hated being the reason they were at odds. Fae drifted back to sleep thinking about Faes brother and if it would be possible to avoid him completely. The next time she woke, the sun had just come up and they were pulling up to a large black steel gate. Fae climbed over the seat and into the front passenger seat as a guard came to the window and eyed her suspiciously, but when he spoke, he bowed his head to Sam. “Miss Samantha, it’s good to have you home. Alpha mentioned you would be bringing a visitor” he nodded towards Fae – she tried to smile back. His voice was gruff and his blue eyes cold and hard. Sam must of felt her nervousness because she replied to the guard with a tone of warning “This is my best friend, she is more than just a visitor, she is my sister. Her name is Fae”. The guard pushed his sandy blond hair behind his ear and grinned at Fae, his eyes dancing with amusement, “Welcome, Miss Fae”. “That’s better Nick!” Sam laughed. Nick stuck his tongue out and waved to the other guards to open the gate. Sam looked over to Faes confused face. “Nick and I grew up together” Sam smiled and continued “He is one of the packs top warriors now”.  As they drove through the gate they were immediately hit with forest on both sides, beautiful trees reaching to the heavens, Fae couldn’t help but look up at them in amazement. 10 minutes later the trees stopped, and buildings started, Fae tried to listen as Sam explained that these were houses for pack members, followed by stores and the town center which included a town hall, library and small museum. Everything was clean and tidy, perhaps it was because she was a lifetime away from Anthony, but the colours seemed more vibrant, the sun warmer and her fears of the big bad Alpha seemed to fade away.                                                             *                          *                       * Tyler Carlisle watched as his sisters car came in to view. A low growl escaped his lips as he barely made out the shape of someone in the passenger seat. "A human" he muttered more to himself , but Tom heard him and smiled, "Come on Bro, she might not be so bad - besides we could do with a new face around here. I'm getting a little bored with the unmated she-wolves" . Tyler rolled his eyes at his Beta, and shook his head. "Watch yourself Tom, my sister is now one of those unmated she-wolves"  Toms grinned widened "That's right! Little Sammy is back from college" his cheeky wink earned him a growl from Tyler "Mate, you better stay clear of Sam, Beta, best friend or not I'll have your head."  Tom laughed and smacked Tyler on the shoulder. He might joke, but he would never do anything to ruin their friendship. They had grown up together, planned their lives as leader and right hand man to the Dark Forest Pack since they met. Tyler was a good 5 years older than him, and Tom looked up to him more than just a leader but an older brother too. "So, are you going to go welcome Sammy and her new friend home?"  Tom looked at Tyler expectantly "Tyler?" Tyler turned to look at him, his eyes darkening as his wolf struggled to take over. "No" he almost yelled, but quickly composed himself "Tom, please tell Samantha to meet me in my office once she has sorted her.. visitor out"                                                      *                                *                              * The girls sat in the car in silence after turning the ignition off. "Sam are you sure this is ok? I really don't want to cause trouble" Sam looked over at Fae and grabbed her hand. "You're staying. Do I make myself clear? You are wanted and loved and STAYING" . Fae gulped down the lump forming in her throat, what had she ever done to deserve her friend. She squeezed Sams hands and smiled. "Thank You".  Tom walked towards the parked car, his long legs closing the distance quickly. As the figures in the car came into view he stopped, and sniffed the air. The comforting smell of apple and cinnamon pie, with a touch of vanilla filled his nose, it reminded him of home. It warmed him to his core. "What the.." He looked at the stranger sitting next to his best friends sister. Her big brown eyes brimming with tears, a small smile on her face as she spoke to Sammy. "Oh s**t, no please - a human mate..?" His inner wolf almost laughed at him,  "No, i***t not her.. "  his wolf Bane growled.. "Her. Mate"  Tom gasped as his eyes locked with a pair of confused green pools. He saw herfull lips mouth the word "Mate" and he had to stop himself from staggering. His legs seemed to move on their own and before he knew it he was opening the car door. "Sammy.." He breathed. Sam shot out of the car. Fae watched as the stranger and Sam stared at each other. She knew what this was, the second Sams eyes had glossed over, "Can you smell that? It's so.. Mhmmm" She said before her head snapped towards the man outside the car - he had the same look in his eyes.  Sam use to go on and on about finding her mate one day. It sounded unreal, a bond stronger than any other bond, a person chosen just for you - to complete you. Fae blushed and turned away to give them some privacy as the two newly found mates wrapped their arms around each other and buried their tongues in each others mouths. Obviously they did not care if there was privacy or not. Fae quietly opened the door and tried to sneak away, but Tom heard the click of the door and broke away from Sam. Mentally kicking himself for not having more control. He could only hope Tyler had already gone to his office and was not still standing in the window. He tried to look innocent as he turned towards the pack house, but couldnt hold in his sigh of relief when he saw the windows empty. He turned back to Sam, and looked at her. Her blonde hair hang straight over her shoulders, her full lips parted, calling to him to kiss her again, and her eyes those beautiful green eyes. She had left for college just before her 18th birthday, he was 23 at the time and thought he would never meet his mate, now at 25 here she was standing in front of him. He smiled sheepishly at her "Welcome home Sammy" . Sam scrunched up her nose at her new mate, "It's Sam, Tom. Just Sam" . "Ok Just Sam, are you going to introduce me to your friend who is trying to slip away?" Sam gasped and turned to Fae, "Fae, I am so sorry!" Fae laughed, "It's ok you little horn dog" The three of them laughed. All forgetting the worry they all now shared. Alpha Tyler Carlisle.
