Sam could hear the soft snores coming from the back seat and knew Fae had fallen asleep. It was an 8-hour drive to her packs town, Fae had asked her to wake her when she was feeling tired so they could take turns driving. Sam knew she wouldn’t wake her friend, this would be the first carefree sleep Fae would have had in a long time, that and the heated conversation she had, had with her brother while waiting for Fae to pack would keep her wide awake. It had been 6 months since she told Fae about her pack, who she really was. She knew Fae needed to feel safe, and Fae had taken it like she grew up knowing about shapeshifters and giant wolves all her life. She smiled remembering her first shift in front of Fae. The surprised gasp followed by that beautiful smile and child like giggle. That was the night they started planning her escape from that pig Anthony. Her smile faded when she remembered telling her brother that she had told a human about them. She shuddered remembering the anger in his tone. Oh boy – and when she had spoken to him to ask if Fae could move on to pack territory, just until Anthony gave up looking for her...
She sighed and pushed her head against the headrest trying to push away the angry words they had exchanged. She did not have to bring their late parents in to it, but he did not have to call Fae a weak human. She was anything but weak. He had finally agreed that she could stay, but it was up to Sam to sort out where and what she would do. “ONE YEAR” He had growled. The deathly silence told her that, that was the end of the conversation. Sam had tried to mind-link him multiple times since then, with no reply. That is why she had resorted to calling him while Fae packed, at least that way he wouldn’t know who was calling. He sounded tired, but still unhappy about Fae moving in. “Just wait till you meet her Ty” she tried to convince him. “She’s so sweet and she’s been through so much...” he replied with a grant as she continued, “Would you just please just try and be nice?” she begged.“I will treat her with the same politeness I treat all guests Sam, but that is it. Please remember you have duties and responsibilities to get back to. Goodbye Samantha” with a click the call ended. “Argh” Sam groaned aloud, being the Alphas sister was a right pain in the ass. Being away at college had been freeing. College, another sensitive subject between her and her stubborn sibling. Fortunately, before they passed, their parents had given her their blessing to attend a human institution 8 hours away. Man, she missed them. "If they were here Fae would be welcomed in with open arms, they dreamed of a day the pack didn’t have to hide when humans were around" . Fae would have loved them.
