“That son of a b***h!” Asher, my older brother muttered, turning on his flashlight. “It's eerily quiet and__” I stopped talking as my ears picked up the laboured breathing nearby.
“Did you hear that?” I asked but Asher frowned, already trying to move away. I followed the sound and then, rustling of leaves followed.
“Hear what? Come on, let's keep searching.” He said and continued moving forward.
“We're not alone.” I whispered into the dark night. “Come on, let's get out of here,we might be walking into a trap. We're yet to catch the rogue who killed those sentinels at the border.”
“My instincts cannot be wrong,I think someone is in trouble.” I moved towards the place where I heard the laboured breathing,my eyes scanning the entire place till it landed on a body at the foot of a tree.
“Asher!” I called sharply and immediately he turned to look at me.
“What is it?” he asked as I lifted the hands of the person and noticed that it was a lady.
“What the hell.” he voiced out, clearly surprised at the sight before him. “Come on Kieran, let's leave. It might _”
“Might what? Asher?” I asked, raking my fingers through my hair as he sighed. “We're leaving right now, without her. I don't care what you think or what your instincts feel but we're leaving without her.”
“What if she's not a bait? What if she's someone who genuinely needs our help!” I scream at him, pointing my flashlight towards the body of the lady.
My breath caught in my throat as my eyes settled on the blood, burns and scars on her body.
“Why would the rogue leave a dying woman as bait?” I asked and Asher scoffed.
“Because he knows we'll be moved by that and try to help her, come on you really don't want to do this.”
“I think I want to.” I lifted her and carried her in my arms as she whimpered. Asher walked ahead of us as we approached the waiting vehicle.
He got into his car and his driver started the car while I got into mine and started it. I rarely use a driver.
As soon as the car came to a stop in the vast compound,I got out of the car. “Get the lady in my car and call Lyra.” I said and immediately the sentinels swung into action.
Asher looked at me, clearly uncomfortable with my action. “I really hope you've not invited a spy into our midst.” As he walked into the house,I closed my eyes. There's something about the lady, something captivating.

Lyra walked into the room where the lady was and she froze. “This is more severe than I thought, who could have done such a thing to her?” She asked, already pulling out her equipment, herbs, and drugs.
“Severe burn.” She muttered.
“Yes Lyra, and I want her healed, make sure you do all you can to make her feel better.” Lyra nodded and got to work.
I moved towards the window, looking outside as Lyra hissed loudly. “Why are you trying so hard to save her? I can tell you for…”
“Lyra?” I called, cutting through her statement as she raised her head to look at me.
“Do everything you can to save her,I don't want anything to happen, not an extra scratch.” She nodded quickly and as I walked out of the room, one thing came to my mind.
If this injured lady is truly a spy then she chose the wrong border to cast her trap. I walked to my office, every bone in my body screaming rest but I couldn't.
Not when Lyra was in there, trying to get this injured lady up and going. “You shouldn't have brought her here.” Asher said, leaning on the frame of my door.
He looked relaxed and calm, and that was something I couldn't afford, not now and not in a few hours to come. There was something about this injured lady, something that keeps pulling me to her.
“So what do you suggest we do?” I asked and he shrugged his shoulders.
“Do you remember what happened the last time I saved someone?” He asked, walking lazily into my office. His hair was sleek and wet.
“You fell for her.” I teased and he groaned.
“You know that's far from it.” He replied and I chuckled.
“You don't have to worry Asher,if she's a traitor or spy, it'll do us more good to have her in our hold.”
“Kieran,” he called before walking over to the door. “Be careful.” As he walked out,I sighed and switched on my laptop. Work has to be continued.
A few hours later, a knock resounded through my door and as I raised my head, the door opened and Lyra walked in.
She was wiping her hands on her clothes, looking really tired.
“Is she okay? Did….” I stopped mid sentence and just sighed.
“What's wrong?” She had a frown on her face. “She's pregnant.” She voiced out, shaking her head.
“She suffered a great amount of burns and it brings me back to the question, who's responsible for that? On a pregnant woman?” I sat quietly, thinking deeply into what Asher said earlier.
They make their spies look really pitiful so you end up trusting them, pulling them into your fold and boom, they'll attack.
“When do you think she'll be awake?” I asked and she shrugged.
“It depends on how strong she is. She's pregnant so she'll need all the rest she can get.” I nodded and stood up.
“Can I see her?” I asked.
“Of course.” She replied and led the way out of the office.
As we approached the room, I felt the pull again. This time it was stronger. What is it about this stranger? I asked myself.
“Once she's better, I'll know what to do about her. For now, keep a close eye on her.”
As I walked into the room, two sentinels walked in behind me. “Alpha Kieran.” They called.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Two sentinels were found dead and they have the mark of the rogue beast.”
