3.Angels of the Wind

534 Words
Zoe and I walked in the sidewalk,to attend our first class. We just had a couple of classes in common, and it's yet a wonder how we ended up being each other's missing lines in the book of life. I've always been grateful to the supreme for framing us as roommates. I couldn't have escaped the sea of despair without Zoe's companionship. She was the breeze that sailed my ship out of the darkness to the land of light. Once we got around the cafeteria, building five was easy to spot. A large black “5” was painted on a white square on the west corner. I felt my breathing gradually creeping toward hyperventilation as I approached the door. Before entering the class....,Zoe whispered,"Everything is going to turn out better than expected." The classroom was large and spacious. The walls are painted with perfect shades of paradise. Though the classroom walls are bare the windows are large. Everyone wants a window seat, to sit in the unsubdued light of the morning. Outside the sky is blue except for a few strands of stratus that trail like aeroplane trails. Whoever painted the walls in here must have had an imagination bypass, but then isn't that the education system all over? Fill our minds with facts we can google instead of teaching us how to think, question facts, experiment and explore. It isn't the nineteen hundreds anymore, they aren't preparing us to clock in and out at factories. I took the seat by the window at the 2nd row. Infront of me sat Axel, the mystery of everyone's wonder. He dressed in scrubby jeans like all the others and wore a t-shirt from some band that had been in fashion before he was born. His hair was spiked like some boy-band pre-madonna, but something about his eyes was just book-ish. Like inside that persona was a little nerd. Then there was the bracelet on his wrist, I've never seen him a day without that crimson blue chain that said "You are already in my veins." Zoe got her seat at the back beside Vance, her inamorato for an eternity and beyond. Vance had eyes of pure mischief and a heart of gold; he had that way of moving that honest people do, with the spark of the child and a smile that went all the way through to his core. The teacher walks in looking as inspired as a used tea bag and already I feel a daydream starting, a really good one. This teacher's gonna have to be really interesting if she wants to compete. As I looked out of the window....a ray of fascination hit me. I wonder if anyone noticed how pretty the sky was today, how the blue was bright and soft all at once. I wonder if they saw the serenity of the clouds that sailed by, gently passing on toward anyplace the wind wishes them to reach. For when I tune in to these subtle and many pleasures, these everyday wonders, nature gives to me a quiet joy... and in that moment I am as happy as anyone has ever been. I was lost in my daydream when the teacher drooled on.
