Happy Rejection Day

Chapter 1

Gianni POV

Today is the day. It is my 18th birthday, the day my mate is to be revealed. They say today is the first day of the rest of your life, but not for me. Now, I know what you're thinking. Why is she being so negative? She should be happy since she meets her mate today. Well, I am not happy, because today is my rejection day.

See, I am an Omega. I come from a long line of Omegas who have always served the Alphas of my pack. Although my family and I aren't treated poorly, I know my place, and that is beneath everyone else. Anyways, back to my rejection. I know it is coming, because who wants to be mated with an Omega?

"Gianni..."

Some might say I have self esteem or confidence issues, but I believe that I am just self aware. Aware that there are winners and losers in life, and unfortunately, Omegas don't win very often.

"Gianni..."

Here's what I know to be true. Unless an Omega's mate is revealed to be another Omega, they are almost always rejected. My cousin Nandy, also an Omega, who lives in a neighboring pack was rejected by her mate less than a minute after the mate bond revealed itself. I am fully prepared for the same with my mate

"GIANNI !"

I look up to see my parents staring at me with their concerned faces.

"Whats wrong?" I asked.

"Gianni, I called you 3 times. You've been staring at your pancakes for for 10 minutes" my dad said.

"Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind."

"I know honey, I know you're worried about being rejected today, but you just may be surprised." my dad says as he takes my hand.

"Dad, the only surprise in store for today is how fast my mate will reject me."

Their faces turn somber because they know what I know. Rejection is inevitable.I scoot back from the table and take my plate to the sink.

"Thank you for my birthday breakfast, but I have to run. Caleb is having a party tonight and I have lots to clean."

I give them both hugs. My mom grabs my hands and squeezes them, "keep your chin up honey, we love you."

" I love you too,' I say as I walk out the door.
