Happy Rejection Day

Chapter 3

Caleb POV

I wake up to my phone ringing and I curse myself for not putting it on silent. I hate waking up before my alarm and I was having such a great dream. Those dark chocolate eyes have been invading my dreams and I can't remember the last time I slept without dreaming about her.

I shake my head to clear my thoughts, no use going down that road since she barely speaks to me. Plus I'm waiting for my mate anyways.

I grab my phone and see a missed call and a text from my future Beta Ty.

Hey man just making sure the party is still on for tonight

Ty what did I say about calling me so early?

Chill Caleb I just want to know because my dad is training me on the borders today and you know that it's going to be hours without my phone.

Yeah it's still on. Now let me go back to sleep.

Don't be such a she wolf man. See you later.

I tried to go back to sleep, but it was no use. I get up and start getting ready for my day. I showered then dressed with a smile on my face as I get a whiff of the coffee Gianni must have put on. I went across the hall to my office and started checking my emails. Just as I was responding to an email from my dad, a tantalizing smell drifted to my nose. Chocolate and berries.

My wolf perked up, the scent so overwhelming I had to find out what it was. I slammed my door open running to the delicious smell that had my wolf in a frenzy. I fly down the stairs but stop when I see her. She looks at me with those same dark chocolate eyes I was just dreaming about and I'm speechless. My wolf is not. My heart jumps when he speaks, I've been waiting for this since my 18th birthday.

"Mate"

Gianni POV

"Mate", my wolf says inside my head. My stomach flutters just looking at him.

I really have the worst luck, out of all the wolves in my pack, the Moon Goddess pairs me with the one I have to see every day.

I shake my head as Caleb continues to watch me with that stunned look on his face. I'm sure he disappointed. He doesn't say anything so I speak first.

"Can we get this over with, I have things to do". My wolf whimpers after I say this but I ignore her.

I'm ready for his rejection so I can move on with the rest of my life. Caleb's face flashes with hurt at my words. The look quickly disappears and he closes the distance between us. I brace myself for the rejection statement, instead he grabs me by my waist and pulls me into him. My wolfs purrs at the sparks from his touch, I can barely breathe I am so overwhelmed. I don't dare to move and I'm standing straight as an arrow as he rests his head in the crook of my neck and whispers, "mine."

I am confused and it must show because he pulls back, while still holding onto my waist, and looks at me with a question on his face.

"Caleb, what are you doing"

"What do you mean?," he responds.

I remove his hands from my waist.

"You're supposed to reject me..."

He looks angry now,"Gianni, why would I reject you. You are my mate."

I'm baffled, honestly speechless. I prepared for every scenario, but I never expected this.

Panic washes over me and I start to back away, the mate bond tickles at my senses, wanting me to stay close to Caleb.

"Gianni, please wait," he looks at me with pleading eyes. My heart hurts to see the pain on his face, but I can't stay. I always think with my brain instead of my heart and that won't change now.

"I'm sorry" I say, as I open the door.

Then, I run.
