Chapter 5 Where Am I?

1132 Words
Kaylee's POV We marched for the next several hours. The cold wind was biting at us, making our faces red. At least my feet were numb so that I couldn't feel the pain. As daylight peaked out over the mountain tops, we came upon a road. They loaded us onto two large covered trucks. I was so glad to sit down and have a break from the wind. We huddled together, trembling. I couldn't tell if we were trembling more from the cold or fear. They were driving so fast down the narrow mountain road. There were no windows to look out to see where we were going. Unfortunately for me, I get carsick. I desperately needed some air on my face. My stomach churned with nausea. Good thing for my friends we hadn't had much food to eat, so there was nothing to throw up. Oh, please, God, make this end. I would do anything to make this truck stop. The truck did eventually come to a stop. The bright sunlight blinded us as they opened the back doors. "Everybody out," the guard growled at us. The pain in my feet and legs had returned. I could barely stand. Painful blisters had erupted on the bottom of my feet. The truck was so far up off the ground. When I tried to step down from the truck, my leg buckled underneath me. Instantly falling on my hands and knees, I screamed out in pain. The girl next to me was so nice and helped me back on my feet. The right knee of my jeans ripped, and my knee was bleeding. Somehow, I managed to hobble into the building they were ushering us into. Forcing us to sit down on the floor, a guard started to interrogate us. "Tell me about your Alpha," he ordered. "I don't know anything about him. I have never met him before." I stammered. "You're lying," he accused me. "The only rumors I've heard is that he is always so serious. It is said that he never smiles. Our Alpha King is a fierce warrior, known to kill 20 wolves by himself." I said warningly. "He is no match for us," the rogue sneered. "If I were you, I would be scared for my life. As a matter of fact, I bet he's looking for us right now." I said, taunting him. The guard grabbed me by my neck and shoved me against the wall. "Oh, you better shut your mouth, or I'll shut it for you," he yelled as he was choking me. He held me off the floor. I was trying to kick him and grabbing at his hands around my throat. Suddenly he dropped me to the ground. I was gasping for air. I honestly thought I would never breathe again. Next, he turned to my friend, Breanna. "Now you, you look good enough to eat," he said with lust in his eyes. He walked up to her and grabbed the ropes that tied her hands, jerking her forward. Putting his face on her neck, he licked all the way up her face. Breanna cringed and tried to pull away. He was too strong for her. "How about we take care of this in the other room, shall we," he growled. Instantly she started crying and was struggling to break free. "No, please don't do this to me," she screamed. That was it. I couldn't take it anymore. Pain shot throughout my whole body. I could feel my bones snapping. My wolf was making an appearance for the first time. A vicious growl escaped my lips as my canines protruded. Charging at the guard, I sunk my teeth into his back. Catching him off guard, I pulled him to the ground, slashing his abdomen wide open. Other guards ran into the room and transformed into their wolves to try and subdue me. Blood was dripping from my mouth. I was not about to give up; I was fighting for our lives and our freedom. They had to pull me off of his dead body. No one does that to my friend and lives to tell about it. They bound me with silver chains that burned into my flesh. I was also given an injection of Wolfsbane. The poison was flowing through my veins. When I transformed back into my human form, I was left naked. My clothes were torn to shreds. Surprisingly I didn't even care. I was too sleepy. I couldn't resist closing my eyes. Giving in to the pain, I fell asleep. When I opened my eyes, I saw a beautiful white wolf. "What is your name?" I asked her. "My name is Pearl," she replied. " Well, Pearl, Thank you for saving me today," I said with deep gratitude. Pearl responded, "We are one now; I am always with you. What you feel, I also feel. Come, I would like to introduce you to a friend." she said, leading me down a hallway. Laying down at the end of the corridor was a man. Upon seeing us, he sat up. He had jet black hair and one glowing green eye. Pearl nudged me with her snout, "You can trust him; he is here to help." I looked back at the man and smiled, "Come find me." I pleaded. Pearl and I turned around and walked back down the hallway. There was a strange bond pulling me towards that man. I wanted to stay with him longer, but Pearl insisted that we needed to go back.    Jolted away from my dream, I started screaming from the tortuous silver chains. The leader of the rogues walked into the room. He was the same black and grey authoritative rogue I had seen when my mom died. "Get rid of her. Take her to the slave market. She is too much of a liability for us. Take whatever money you can get." The guard standing next to him handed me some dirty, old, mismatched clothes to put on. Then he put on thick gloves to handle the chains. After putting the clothes on, he forced me into a car and drove into the city. We pulled up at the so-called slave market. I was assigned a number and told to wait in line. My body was still shackled with chains, and the guard was standing watch. Finally, it was my turn to be bid on. An older man stepped forward and offered one hundred pieces of gold. I was sold to him. The guard took off my silver chains and placed the ropes back on my wrists. The rogue handed the end of the rope to the older man. "Good luck with this one," he told the man and laughed as he walked away.
