CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE
Eight o’clock found the house filled with a few friends and police personnel. Through blaze, Adwin had found a good caterer—No 1 ‘Ono—and food was delicious and plentiful. So was wine and beer.
The news focused on the Ha-Ha Killer’s escape, his cohort Jack’s death, and “the abducted female private investigators’ astounding escape”. The events were the talk of the town, Islands, and Mainland. Rey wasn’t keen on the “abducted” spin as she felt that might bode badly for the agency, but Linda and Gail emphasized the fact we’d escaped by taking out the two men. That brightened her mood a bit, and when Jimmy C said he’d write about how we’d adeptly and courageously accomplished that, she glowed like lava flowing from spewing Kilauea Volcano.
