CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
“I hear you got the job,” Gail said, raising a glass of Pineapple Mana Wheat beer as Rey, beaming, slipped into the seat across from her.
“And I hear you had an awesome time in Japan,” my cousin said, requesting a glass of Australian Chardonnay from a passing server. She was still wearing the outfit I’d suggested for the meeting but had added a pretty silk shawl to the ensemble.
“Your news is more exciting,” our reedy fifty-some-year-old HPD pal chuckled. Her cranberry-glossy lips pulled into a smile as she peered over the rim of round black-rimmed glasses perched on a Roman nose. Her orb colors changed with the outfit and this time her eyes were fern-green.
