Chapter 3 - The Human World

It was daytime when Princess Lena woke up. Her eyes went heavy when she was trying to open her eyes. It was a blurred figure came in front of her and when she blinked her eyes once, it appeared like two figures looking at her.

She panicked as she covered her body. She was looking at the two humans with a questioning look. Her eyes went small as she tried touching the teenager boy’s face.

“Stop touching my face.” He was irritated at the girl in front of him.

The girl’s brows met and her eyes went small when she looked at the little boy. He was smiling at her and gave her a pearl. Then, she realized it was Mochi who became a human. She hugged him and smiled.

The teenager boy was fascinated with her smile that made his mouth open a bit. He realized that it was wrong. He was frightened when she touched his hand.

“What are you doing?” He was pulling his hands but Princess Lena’s grip was too tight. He could not believe how much strength she has. When he was about to pull his hands back, she let him go and that made him fell to the ground.

“Ouch! My butt hurts.” He was holding his butt and stood. “You’ll regret this.”

An old man was walking closer to them with a little girl beside him. “Georgie…” He called the little girl and she ran at them instead.

“Miss, are you okay?” She was pretty smiling at her.

“Hey, Georgie. Don’t ask her if she was okay and let me tell you that –“ His words were cut by a glare from Georgie.

“Miss, do you want to eat something or have some drink?” Georgie offered her and she nodded slowly.

“What? Are you kidding me?” The teenager boy brushed his face and complained about her being so nice with a stranger.

“Stop it, brother.” Georgie was calmed when she sighed. “They need help from us and still, you’re so selfish.”

“Look at you, you’re kind at strangers but me, why not?” He complained and Georgie went out of the room. “Hey, where are you going? I’m not done with you.”

“Gavin!” The old man called his attention. “Stop being so mean with Georgie.”

“But why are you by her side?”

“Come here, little boy.” The old man gave the fruits to him. “Let her have some nutrients.”

“Grandfather, why aren’t you hearing a word from me? It seems like she is your favorite.” Gavin left them with a bang of the door.

“Miss, let him have time for himself. He is a good boy. Don’t mind his misbehavior. May be, I lacked of everything from making him grow.” The old man was a little bit sad but he managed to smile at her.

Mochi was struggling from opening the orange fruit and he bit it with his own little teeth. He was crying when he could not open it. The old man got a new orange fruit and slowly opened it. Mochi’s smile was priceless and when he gave it to him, he was happy.

“Tell me something about you, Miss.”

Princess Lena did not respond but the old man kept asking her, “What is your name? Have you been kidnapped?”

The silence was short and the old man finally said, “I’m not forcing you. May be, you are from shock. Tell me when you’re ready. I’ll leave you two then.” The old man walked out and the two of them stared at each other.

Princess Lena pulled the quilt and there she saw her legs. She became a human. No wonder why she could not feel her tail and her breathing was different.

She was wearing a yellow shirt. It was making her uncomfortable and when she put off her clothes, Gavin entered with shock. Slammed the door and calmed himself.

“What are you doing? Are you unaware of man’s presence here?” He was annoyed and grabbed a chair to put the towel on it. “You can use this towel.”

Princess Lena did not know what to do. She roamed her eyes around the corners and she found it weird. She tried standing up but she fell to the ground.

“What happened?” Gavin unlocked the door and found her laying on the floor. She looked at him and he made her to stand up.

Princess Lena’s legs were weak. She fell repeatedly and it hurts her knees. Gavin made her sat at the edge of the bed. “Wait for the medicine.”

He put out his medicine kit from his cabinet and he started to put alcohol to her wound on her knees. Although, it was a scratch from the floor, it hurts her so Gavin slowly blew at it.

Princess Lena was amused at his face and thoughtfulness. He was caring for her and made her heart to flutter. After putting the band aid, he looked at her eyes accidentally that made her heart to flinch.

“What are you thinking?” He raised a brow and smirked. “Are you faking that you can’t stand up?”

She shook her head and her stomach growled. He gave her an apple and she stared at it.

“It should be like this.” He took a bit and gave it to her. She nodded.

Princess Lena’s teeth slowly bit the apple and Gavin burst out his laugh. “You’re making me laugh. Are you a human or not?”

She gave her a glare and he was afraid seeing her like that. “I’m sorry.” She continued biting her apple and Mochi came at them full of orange juices at his mouth.

Gavin was unhappy seeing the two weird people in front of him. He was puzzled about this two and he have an idea to search about a shipwreck near the sea.

“Oh, no.” He whispered at his seat as he browsed the internet. He brushed his head twice and looked at the screen of his desktop. “There was a shipwreck two weeks ago.”

He decided to look after the two and if ever he would find responsible persons to claim that they were the family or relative, he would be free to give them to the custody. He thought of his responsibility was to look for the family.

“Nice one, brother.” Georgie came out from his door and smiled like a brat at him.

“Aw, I’m easily annoyed every time I see you.” He switched off his desktop and went to the shower room.

“Don’t ever enter there again. It’s my room.” Georgie was angry at him.

“Then, where should I? At my room?”

“No! You’re not allowed there too.” Georgie walked to her desktop and saw that there was a shipwreck where the two persons were victims.

“May be, they are the survivors.” She whispered and switched off the desktop computer. The loud noise from the next room to hers made her panicked. She rushed there to check if ever something bad happened.

“Miss, are you okay?” Georgie helped her to stand up and Princess Lena smiled. It made her realized that her hair has small curls and her nose was not too small.

Mochi went to them and poked Georgie.

“Are you deaf or mute?” She wondered why the two of them were not speaking or even responding. “You have to tell me your information to help you go back to your family.”

Princess Lena tried speaking but there was no voice coming out. She was upset that was why she covered her face.

“Don’t worry. I will help you. May be, you are in shock from the shipwreck.” Georgie went to the kitchen and got them some egg and orange juice.

Princess Lena and Mochi were looking at the foods. It was their first time to see it and so, they grabbed it with their own hands but Georgie stopped them.

“No, you should use this.” She helped them to handle the spoon and fork but Princess Lena was holding the fork to get the egg. Georgie giggled at her and Mochi was getting the orange juice using the fork. It was making him impatient and what he did startled the girls.

“What did you do to my skirt?” Georgie was making a tantrum and Mochi was trying to calm her. She ran out of the room and there she saw Gavin with his right brow raised at the two. She left them and took a bath.

Gavin wiped the floor and Princess Lena was looking at him. “What are you thinking? If you want to be here, just behave, okay?”

Mochi was at a corner with his arms around his curled legs. He was thinking of the most embarrassing event that happened to his whole life. He was wishing that he knows everything at the human world.

Princess Lena was still looking at Gavin. She thought that he saw him for a long time ago when she was a young mermaid playing at the shore.

“You’re really clumsy. Next time, I will watch you two.” Gavin warned them and went out of the room to throw the thin cloth he used.

“What was her real motive? Does she likes me?” He chuckled and there, Georgie was watching him beside the door.

“What do you think? You’re just a normal boy. You wish.” She turned her back at him that made him annoyed. He almost throw her the glass but she glared at him.
