1644 Words
The kingdom was full of miseries as the history repeats itself. It was the only way that the world could take. Nobody wants the destruction. The kingdom wanted to kill the prophesied one. The cause of the destruction. There was a hidden one prophesied by the oracle. The one who could save the whole kingdom. The one who was good at all cost. “I heard a few from the myth.” Mochi explained as he was roaming around her. “What’s it all about?” She brushed her hair slightly and turned to her mother. “Please, go away.” Queen Bettina used her last strength to push away her daughter. She was exhausted and fainted. It was the sound of something that made her awake. When she opened her eyes, her hands were tied at her back. She tried freeing herself but she could not. Then, her head was starting to hurt like it was banging by something unseen. “So, this is how you look.” The woman stood beside her and wagged her tail. “Evangeline”, Queen Bettina whispered to herself and raised her head to face her. Evangeline slapped her and grabbed her cheeks with her right hand. “Too late to get back your throne. I’ll manage it.” She left Queen Bettina with astonishment. “You’ll pay for all of this! Evangeline, you witch!” she screamed at the top of her lungs but nobody came. She was locked in a dungeon without anything to look at. It was an empty dungeon without people inside it. Princess Lena found herself in front of a witch. She knew that this witch could help her. “You are the one who could help me.” The words that she uttered was heard by the witch. “I have been waiting for you for a long time.” The witch smiled like the common witch but her smile disappeared while she was looking around Princess Lena’s beautiful face. “What do you mean?” Princess Lena felt a little bit fear about the witch’s tone of voice. “Well, you have something to do.” The witch brought her wand and a piece of paper came out from the air. It flew at Princess Lena’s face and it was a contract. “And here.” The witch pointed at the bottom and added, “You need to sign it.” Princess Lena was frightened about the witch who was looking at her with a creepy smile. “What would happen if I –“ “Stop this, please!” Mochi appeared in front of the witch and she fell down on the ground. “Is this how you repay me?” The witch gritted her teeth and her wand came back to her hand and pointed at Mochi. Before she uttered some words to curse him, Princess Lena stopped her. “Never touch my friend.” Her face was a little bit angry and at the same time with trembling hands. Nervousness filled her body while the witch’s face came an inch to her face. “Just – sign – this and you may leave this place safely and come back alive and save us.” The witch gave Princess Lena the pen. Princess Lena gulped once and her worried eyes were about to burst in tears but she held it back. She wrote her name at the bottom of the contract and when she was done, the witch gave her the copy of it and Princess Lena was almost lost her breath. Her trembling body made her fell down on the ground and lost consciousness. Everything was getting darker as a week passed by, Queen Bettina was worried about Princess Lena. She was hoping that the witch helped her to get out of their place and live peacefully. Queen Bettina heard the gate unlocked and she knew that Evangeline would keep asking about her precious daughter. “Tell me where your daughter is!” She slapped her face and grabbed a stick that could beat her. This time, Queen Bettina’s physical body began to weak. Under her eyes were filled with dark tones and her body was trembling, knowing that she feared about her princess’ safety. “I’m not going to tell you until I die!” Evangeline grabbed her jaw, trying to make her face her. “If you couldn’t, well, I would do everything just to find your daughter and son. “Please, let him in.” Evangeline ordered her guards and they pushed Prince Andrew to the ground. “No! Please, stop this Evangeline.” Queen Bettina was really pleading about his safety but Evangeline slapped her face again. “You’re wrong about doing this to me. Do you still remember how you betrayed me?” Evangeline’s eyes were different. It was full of anger and hatred. She remembered everything that was too painful within her life. Queen Bettina’s mouth flew open a bit with her questioning look. Evangeline turned her back at her and brushed her hair with anger. “It was you who stole everything for me. Just for me.” She burst herself into anger and screamed at Queen Bettina’s face. “Stop doing that to my mother.” Prince Andrew was about to look up to his mother but the guard pointed his sword at him. Evangeline laughed out loud like a witch and she looked at her hands. She slapped Prince Andrew’s face and said, “Don’t you dare to command me or else, you’ll beheaded.” Prince Andrew stopped himself to complain about it just to save his mother, it was necessary that he should be alive. He was casted to the chain and tried to push himself out of it but failed. It was hard to escape from there. He looked at his mother with grief and guilt that he could not do something to be free.   He realized where could her sister went. He tried asking his mother but he failed to know. “It’s better not to talk about it. Just wait and see.” The long night was too short and another day was filled with hope to Queen Bettina’s heart. She was telling herself silently that this would pass but she never knew when. She was looking up but there was nothing. It was a blank ceiling which made her upset and exhausted. It was noon time when a servant of Queen Bettina came with a tray of food. Her eyes were not shining because of a blank stare out of nowhere. It was not that frightening but Queen Bettina tried calling her servant but she did not respond. “Your highness, please allow me to beat her until she wakes up in reality.” Prince Andrew gritted his teeth and when the servant came in front of him, he spanked her forehead with his head. The servant fell down to the ground and using the power of Queen Bettina, she tried waking her up. “What happened?” The servant slowly opened her eyes and saw Queen Bettina with a bruise on her face. Her eyes with dark circles made the servant realized that their lives were at danger. She gasped with her hand on her mouth open and gave an honor to the queen and prince. “Your highness, punish me to death.” The servant bowed at them and cried with her trembling hands between her forehead and the seafloor. “Stand up. You need to save us first.” Queen Bettina showed positivity and smiled. “We should carefully plan everything.” The merman broke their conversations and said, “You need to get out.” The servant came out like she used to be. She swam out of the dungeon and did not look back at them. She went to the kitchen and secretly hid some foods for them. “Your highness, we need to become strong.” Prince Andrew was thinking about his sister. “We need to find Princess Lena.” He was angry about her secretly and envied about being free. “She needs to fulfill her duty here as our savior.” Queen Bettina was sure about the prophecy given by an oracle. “Do you still believe that it is her?” Prince Andrew smirked and laughed sarcastically. “Stop it, Prince Andrew. You, disrespecting son of Myrthe Kingdom, bow your head at me and repent.” Queen Bettina used her power to control his head to bow. “Yes, mother. I apologize.” Prince Andrew kept his anger against Princess Lena since they were small. He remembered how he was forgotten when she was born but a part of him loves her so much. He did not know why but the saying says, “blood is thicker than water”. His good and sweet memories of her made his eyes teary. “I’m afraid that she would forget us.” He whispered and sighed. “I know she will not.” The day was short as the dark place made them sad. They were tired of being tied at the walls. Prince Andrew tried using his strength to pull himself but the tie was thick. “I wish that our gods guide her and save us.” Queen Bettina silently said but Prince Andrew heard her. “I know she will.” Prince Andrew believed about what his mother said. They slept together with a smile on their faces and left everything to their gods to help them be saved.
