Andrea.
After working tirelessly for another three hours, amidst clutching the sides of my stomach and fighting the tears that threatened to cloud my eyes, I was finally done. And right on time as the Alohas began to pour in to the living room where the meeting was to hold.
I thanked the moon goddess silently that I had gone overboard and prepared surplus meals. How else would I have been able to cover up seeing the numbers of people who were seated?
From the Alpha’s word, I thought only two to three Alphas would be coming, but by the moon goddess, there were about twenty of them. Which took my mind back to the thought I had earlier.
What was going on?
“Hurry up, wench!” I heard Alpha Garret screamed at me. That brought me out of wherever it was my mind had traveled to.
I bowed my head in apology as I approached the living room with the bottle of the special wine only meant to be served to special guests. After pouring the first glass for Alpha Garret, I approached the other Alphas and began to repeat the duty. I was about to pour the wine for the last person when his words stopped me.
“Garret, is she available?” The man asked.
Startled by the question, the wine I was supposed to pour into the cup went straight to the floor, staining both the shoes of the Alpha who had just spoken and also the limited edition rug Alpha Garret set in the living room.
I began to shake even before I felt the slap across my face.
“I’m so…sorry,” I pleaded profusely. The slap was however not from Alpha Garret, but from the Alpha I was supposed to pour the wine for.
“How dare you ruin my shoes?!” The man hissed at me, standing up immediately and pointing a menacing finger at me.
Suddenly, I heard a growling behind me. I knew without being told that that was Alpha Garret. I turned slowly and was met by his palm as it connected to my face. The wine bottle flew from my hands. I winced as I heard its clattering all over and almost died when I saw the content spilled, staining a large area of the expensive rug.
“Die!” The level of venom in the voice hit me even before the punches began to come my way.
My face. My nose. My chest. My stomach. My thighs. My back. None of them were spared from the brutality of the man who was supposed to be the protector of the people in his pack.
“Die, you b***h!” The man yelled with so much fury.
By now, I was almost out of breath. There was no single part of me which didn’t feel the effect of the several punches that were landed on me.
Suddenly, I felt a hand dragging me by the neck of my dress. My eyes widened when I noticed that the hand was dragging me to no other place than where the bottles were scattered.
“I’m sorry! I am so sorry!” I shouted out, already knowing what was going to happen. Just as I thought, my pleas fell on dead ears.
The first torrent of screams rented my throat just as I felt my legs hit some of the broken bottles. That still didn’t deter the man as he continued to drag me over the bottle pieces.
“Die!” He repeated.
I continued to scream as blood mixed with the wine on the rug, staining it even further. None of the Alohas present did anything to stop my agony from the man. If anything, their amusement and chuckles showed that they were clearly enjoying the torture I was going through.
“What is going on here?” I heard a deep male voice echoed through the living room.
Finally!
Alpha Garret slowly loosened his hold on me, probably to take a look at whoever had dared to stop him in his own territory.
“Care to explain?” The voice asked again when no one said anything.
Or was the voice a bit different from the first? I couldn’t tell from all the agony I was in. But one thing I did hear clearly was the clearing of throat from the other Alphas in the room.
I tried to look at the voice to see the owner, but I couldn’t take my mind off the pain I was feeling even for a minute.
“Mate!” My wolf, Sapphire, whispered weakly within me.
Grunting and pushing my weak body up, I tried to look at who it was that would finally be my savior, but it was hard to see through my half closed eyes lids.
‘Mate!’ Sapphire said again, this time, with a bit of more urgency in her voice.
Again, I lifted my battered body from the floor where I was and tried to see who she was referring to. My head banged furiously with each motion I tried to take but I ignored the pain.
It was what I had been doing all my life any way - ignoring the pain.
“Where?” I asked her under my breath when the only person my gaze caught was the same demon who had beaten me up and left me in the pain I was currently in.
“Your left side.” She replied.
I groaned as I forced my head to move to the left side. My eyes threatened to close up completely but I blinked. I saw the forms of people all around and couldn’t clearly make out their faces.
However, I could smell that unique scent of the earth and sandalwood mixed together and knew it was from no other than my mate.
Curious to know who that was, I used my hands to lift my eyelid up to enable me see me.
However, I got the shock of my life when I saw not just one, but two men staring at me intently.
“Mate!” Sapphire purred within me, knowing that I spotted him - or tried to.
“Sapphire, which one of them?” I asked her when it was obvious she was not ready to notice my confusion out of her excitement.
“That–“ her voice was cut off when I felt something heavy hit me on the head.
My eyes turned by themselves and loud siren blares off in my head. I saw the stars clearly in broad day light before they slowly closed up.
My body going limp and wet liquid pooling all around the place where my head fell were the last thing I noticed before I lost every consciousness of myself.
This time, I was very sure I would be seeing the moon goddess, not as a living but as a dead person.
