DINAH “Bye Elsie,we should do this more often.” Vick,the sales rep said as we made our ways to our various cars. We played a prank on the general secretary and I really hope he didn't get angry. Mr Tony the general secretary was a very quiet and peaceful man so there was nothing we couldn't do with him. “Yeah I really hope so too.” I replied before waving them goodbye and getting into my car. It was old and created a very annoying sound whenever I tried starting it up. Vick and Elsie ducked their heads out of their cars in pity, smiling bittersweetly before driving off. I geared the car into life and drove out of the parking lot. I turned on my favorite music and was really glad I didn't have to be bothered about worrying about another person in the car. It was just me. Just then,my phone's screen lit up and I saw a message pop up. It was from Debbie. It read “I need your help, Addison bar.” I groaned, shaking my head as I continued driving. Jessica will be so angry if I don't drop by before heading home. She told me to come over cause she has already seen a nice house for me to park into. Staying with my dad and step mom was becoming unbearable and I just couldn't stand them anymore. Coupled with the fact that my father never believed anything I say concerning my stepmother and Debbie they were always right and I was always wrong so I gave up complaining. I gave up saying whatever I felt. I just bottled everything in and lived my life that way. Jessica waved her hands at me as she smiled and worked out of her restaurant. “You are right on time , I'll just take off my apron and join you in your car.” She said and dashed back into the restaurant to change. A few minutes later she walked out of the restaurant and got into the car. I smiled at her, at least she was one of the people who always has my back and will never leave me in my time of need. “So tell me something about this house you spoke about and are even willing to give me a loan just to get this apartment tell me something how did you get it?” I asked and she laughed out loud. “Sometimes I wonder why you are so inquisitive but I kinda like it.” She replied,not giving me a full response. “That's not an answer and you know it. Tell me something, where did you get the apartment or where is the location?” I asked and she smiled. This time around,my phone's ringtone put a stop to our conversation as Debbie's name displayed over the screen. “What does she want, aren't you tired of babysitting her? For goodness sake she's an adult and should stop pestering your life.” “That's why we're searching for an apartment for me right?” Dinah asked as Jessica scoffed. “As if that's gonna stop you from attending to her every whim.” “What is it Debbie?” I asked, shaking my head. “Could you please come over,I sent the address already and,and__” the line went dead. “Now what does she want?” Jessica asked, frowning as I shook my head. “I'll just have to head home first then, head out to see what's up with her.” She replied. “Well to cut the long story short, it's an apartment I got from Brandon and before you say anything he's giving it out on lease not for free.” “You couldn't get any other apartment?” I asked, knowing fully well what she wanted. She wanted me to give Brandon a chance but I only see him as a friend. I drove my car into the compound as my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. As I walked into the house,the sweet aroma of tacos coming from the kitchen welcomed me while I saw my dad watching his night news in the sitting room. “Hey dad, mom.”I called but I just got a wave of hand from my dad. It wasn't new but it stung each time he ignores me or pretends I'm not in the room. “Wanted to let you know I'll be heading to a location to see something.” I said and though I wasn't waiting for any response,I really wished they'd say something. I decided not to use my car so I waved a cab and got in,plugged in my earphones and relaxed. “Ma'am we're here.” The driver said and I almost groaned out. “Alright, thanks.” I whispered and got out of the cab. ******* The loud music hit my ears the moment I walked in. I scrunch my nose at the smell of s*x and sweat. It smelt horrible and I wanted nothing more than to save Debbie from whatever she was undergoing and taking her home. “Excuse me miss, have you seen someone like this?” I asked, sliding through my phone till I saw one of Debbie's pictures. “Yeah,I think she went that way.” The bartender replied as I huffed a sigh of relief. I dialed her number immediately but it didn't go through. As I made my way towards the direction the bartender described,I grazed different people dancing and smooching. The last time I came to a club,I couldn't go home because I was extremely drunk. Had to sleep over at Jessica's house. I went home the next morning and my father was ready to break hell loose. “I wonder where she is.” I whispered but I couldn't even hear myself due to the banging music. I shook my head as I realized how spoiled Debbie was. Just then,a bartender approached me with a cup of tequila. “For me?” I asked. “Yes, someone sent it to you specifically.” She pressed the cup into my hand as I shook my head. “Who could that be?” I whispered, looking around,all the more my suspicion grew concerning Debbie and the whole issue.
