            “Good morning Madam. The breakfast is served.” The smell of food made me hungry. I opened my eyes slowly to see a middle-age woman in a black uniform and her hair tied nicely in a bun. She put a tray of food on the table.

“Where is this place?” I asked softly.

“This is Smith Residence. You are safe here. I am the housekeeper here.” The woman replied. I scanned around the room and asked the woman “Where is Adam?”

“Sir is having his morning swim now.” The woman returned in a smile. I had my breakfast on bed. After some rest I decided to look for Adam.

            There were so many rooms and I lost my way looking for the pool. I saw another woman vacuuming the floor and I asked her for direction. “Excuse me. May I know where the swimming pool is?” I asked politely. “Outdoor pool or indoor pool, Madam?” the woman replied courteously. I was in total disbelieve that Adam’s family was so wealthy that they have two pools in his residence. “Adam usually goes to which pool?” I continued to ask. “Sir usually have his morning dip at the outdoor pool. You go straight second turning to the left and you will reach the destination.” The woman replied in a polite matter. “Thank you.” I replied.

            I follow her direction and I reached the pool. Adam was having a swim at the pool and he was even hotter without his shirt on. I swooned at his muscular body and tanned skin. “Hi Adam.” I waved at him. He stopped and get out of the pool to come closer to me. “Good morning Rica, did you have a good rest? Are you hurt? Should I bring you to the hospital for check-up?” Adam checked my body meticulously, “I am alright. I think you owed me some explanation. How did we travel back to Michigan?” I asked while swinging my hands to let go of his grip. Adam’s face sank “I didn’t know that I need to reveal to you so soon. Let’s go to my room. I will explain to you.”  We headed back to his room.

            “Ok. You need to sit down. Everything I told you here need to be secret, or your life will be in danger.” Adam gestured me to sit on his bed.

“Ok. I am ready.” I gulped. “Alright. After the revelation you could choose to stay or leave. If you choose to leave, then I would need to erase your memory.” Adam revealed.

“Huh? What?” I asked with my jaw open-wide.

“Calm down. We meant no harm. For generations we worked as Grim Reaper. We collect souls and travel to Almighty’s court to pass souls there for judgement.” Adam revealed. I listened to him in doubt. “We able to travel from door-to-door to collect souls. That explained that I was able to track you and teleport to the ship to rescue you. We looked like humans and there are many Grim Reapers roaming around the world. Our group have the most Grim Reapers working for us. My family is the leader of Grim Reapers and Derrek’s family is second in command.” Adam explained.

“What? Grim Reaper doesn’t look like that. How do you travel from door-to-door?” I asked with a shaking voice. Adam was so gorgeous; I couldn’t imagine that he was a Grim Reaper.

“We could travel to anywhere with a door. I just need to picture it in my mind, open any door, walk through, close the door behind and we will reach the destination. Nobody can follow us through the door unless we hold them and led them in.” Adam continued.

“Wow. You don’t need any Air Tickets to travel around the world.” I joked as I thought he was a lunatic, Adam smiled, and he continued “We will have full control of our powers when we reach 21 years of age.”

“And are you immortals?” I asked Adam.

“Not really although we seem immortals. We could live up to 250 years old, but it depends on how often we use our powers. Our life span will be shorten every time we use our powers for selfish purpose. And we heal within a minute.” Adam explained as he reached out for a scissors and slide across his arm. His blood start to drip to the floor but the wound starts to close and heal by itself. Within a minute the wound was gone, and it doesn’t even have a scar.

“Wow. That was too much to digest.” I looked away, convinced that it is true. I really like Adam but the truth is too huge for me.

“Don’t dwell on it Erica. I will always be by your side protecting you.” Adam reassured to the question in my mind.

“Can you read my mind?” I asked Adam.

“Yeah. I can read minds as long as I looked into their eyes.” Adam replied.

“I can’t believe this. I want to get out of this place.” I jump-out from his bed and walked through to the door.

            “I will fetch you home.” Adam tip-toed and followed me closely. There was so much sorrow in his eyes. “Stop!” I turn around and gestured him to stop. “Just leave me alone. Too much information I need to digest. Give me two weeks to think about it.” I said with a stern voice. Adam was stunned and stood at the door frozen.

            I walked to the nearest bus stop and took a bus back to my mother’s house. In my mind, I keep repeating what Adam had told me. What should I do? Should give up or try to work out the relationship? I really like him, and he likes me too.

            I opened the door with my keys and greeted my mum. “Hey mum. I’m home.” She was watching TV program at the living hall and I gave her a big hug. “Are you ok honey? You seem different.” Maggie asked. “I am alright mum. I just need to get a shower and get some rest.” I re-assured Maggie. “Ok. I will prepare dinner for you. Where is your luggage?” Maggie asked. Oh my goodness! I have left my luggage at Adam’s house, but I don’t want to go back to the place. I was in a rush and must have forgotten about it. “I left it in my friend’s house. I will pick up next time.” I replied Maggie and headed back to my room.

After dinner, I was so exhausted and fell-asleep in my room while reading vampire novel. I felt uneasy in the middle of the night and I woke up to find a dark silhouette at the end of my bed. I reached out to switch on my table lamp and turned back to the direction to see but my room was empty. The bathroom door was slightly ajar. Adam must had come to see me I thought to myself. I was insomnia that night.
