Molly “The stars are beautiful,” I say softly, staring up at the sky. We’re lying on the cool grass, side by side, our shoulders almost touching. The forest is quiet now. No running. No danger. Just crickets, soft wind, and a sky full of light. Charles turns his head to look at me. “Are you alright?” he asks. His voice is low. Gentle. Still protective even now.
