Chapter One: The needy child
Somewhere in Iowa, a young brown skin girl shouted furiously, "Mom!" Her overprotective mother woke from the howling that sounded like someone getting brutally murdered. She got out of her bed and followed the yelling quickly, and what she saw was a little girl crying. "Braquisha! Why are you hollering at eight in the morning? You already know that we sleep past twelve on typical weekends.", said Christian, Braquisha dreadfully tired mother. Braquisha's decorated room typically had red painted walls that she vainly urged her devoted father to do on her birthday.
"Daddy Please! I desire my bedroom to occupy red walls!", begged braquisha. The girl's father, Jacob, who was irritated with braquisha said, " Why do you suddenly desire the want for red walls? You asked for orange walls yesterday!" "I want red walls because jasmine occupies red walls.", mumbled braquisha. Jacob with a frustrated sigh merely responded, "You can't copy everyone for the rest of your life. There is only one you, even if there are many girls or boys with an identical name in the world." Jacob decided to paint her walls red only because of her birthday but he vows to not tolerate her convincing him to do or buy her things because others had what she didn't.
Instead of drawings on her wall like most eight-year-olds in 1998, she had posters of Mulan, her favorite Disney movie, the Wizard of Oz which is her favorite musical, and the rugrats her favorite cartoon show. Braquisha grabbed her mother's hand and took her closer to her bed which was covered with many stuffed animals and pillows. "Mommy, the tooth fairy refused to visit me last night. I left two baby teeth underneath my pillow, and one from cousin Sue and one from me. Sue allow me to have her tooth if I agree with splitting the money and I mutually agreed but I got scammed by the tooth fairy!", explained braquisha. "Oh honey, the tooth fairy doesn't visit low-class families.", explained Christian. "Why is that?", questioned a bewildered braquisha. "Because the tooth fairy would rather give to the rich, not the poor.", explained Christian. The truth was that Christian didn't want to give braquisha money because she always loses it or spends it on fish that will die in a week. After hearing her mother's words, Braquisha vows to be rich enough to be appreciated by people higher than her.
At nine-years-old, Braquisha was enrolled in a grundy center in Iowa which was founded in 1939 and was still improving financially. Her responsible parents have been homeschooling braquisha since she was five and could properly attend Kindergarten. The key decision of homeschooling was naturally because of Braquisha's abnormal way with local children her age and people in general. The familiar saying that television can naturally affect children's minds was accurate when it naturally came to braquisha. Braquisha constantly expressed the problem of wanting what others had since she was five but it got worse when she started pretending to be people she saw on tv.
Braquisha three cousins, Bobby, Declan, and Sue came to visit to advise on starting the third grade. When the cousins found braquisha, she was devouring strawberry steak with mashed potatoes. Bobby and the rest decided to snatch them a plate because they missed having a home cook meal. While the children were eating, braquisha notice Declan was eating with his mouth open. "Stop eating with your mouth wide open young man! Have manners.", order braquisha. The three cousins didn't notice braquisha unique appearance at first but when they did, they stifle their laughter. Braquisha had a petite grace gray wig and her outfit was a green robe with black crocs, she had a striking resemblance to their deceased grandma that passed away just last year. "Girl, you are constantly talking with your mouth open when eating.", said sue. Bobby couldn't hold his laughter for long and finally, he let it out. "How dare you disrespect your grandma?!", question braquisha. Christian heard the yelling from her bedroom and entered the kitchen to see braquisha yelling at her cousin's while they laugh at her. "Braquisha Edward collins.", announced Christian.
The three cousins left the kitchen instantly, not wanting to get in trouble for causing braquisha to react. Christian takes a chair and sits next to braquisha who is still furious. "Who are you pretending to be today?", asked Christian with exhaustion in her voice. Christian takes the petite grace gray wig off Braquisha revealing Christian missing bald cap that she ordered on sss just last week. "What in lord's name?", declared Christian. The two girls shared a laugh while the three cousins eavesdropped on the private conversation. "I'm completely tired of being myself. No one admires me...", explained braquisha. "How do you know people don't cherish you if you under no circumstances been yourself?", question Christian. Braquisha didn't provide a possible answer to that question because deep down there wasn't any possible explanation on how she felt back then.
