32Mom was getting in shape for the Himalayan trek. She ran daily, went to aerobics classes and kept up her yoga. When I finally got my bandages off, I went with her to a Sunday morning yoga class. The teacher, Lenny, played harmonium as the class began. Lenny was popular and the room was packed, at least sixty people. I was sweaty after just ten minutes of sun salutations. I’d done yoga with Mom a few times, but had forgotten how relaxing it was. Near the end of class, Lenny let us dance with our eyes closed. “Let it go, ignore what your neighbor’s doing, let your body move any way it wants.” More musicians joined Lenny and the drumbeat sped up as we danced free-form.
