Emmeline had sat down by then. Mr. Piers asked her to be calm, and without feeling awkward to tell Mr. Piers everything that happened in detail.
Of course it wasn't easy for Emmeline to suppress her embarrassment, because she thought her actions were ridiculous, but since she was already in a state of urgency, after all she saw that Mr. Piers was genuinely curious, Emmeline couldn't possibly ignore all the questions.
Emmeline told Mr. Piers one by one openly, both the events that happened to her, to all the small details that she felt. All, without exception.
It wasn't the first time Emmy had told Mr. Piers a personal story. It had been so many times, considering that their relationship was very close for a long time, and that's why, this time when Emmeline had the confidence to tell her story, although initially due to pressure from circumstances, the story was then easily conveyed perfectly. Even Emmeline then felt her feelings become a bit more relieved.
Mr. Piers listened intently. When Emmeline ended her story, he looked at Emmeline with a deep, thoughtful gaze. Emmeline couldn't help but be attracted to it.
Emmeline asked, "What's the matter, Mr. Piers? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Erm, no. Nothing." Mr. Piers averted his gaze for a moment. To Emmeline, the gesture seemed mysterious. She didn't like it when she was left guessing what she wanted to know.
"Mr. Piers, say something."
Mr. Piers looked back at her. "Destiny, Dear. I was just thinking about your destiny."
Emmeline furrowed her brows. "My destiny?"
Mr. Piers closed his eyes for a moment. He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly while saying, "Yeah." He nodded his head faintly, before opening his eyes again. He took a good look at Emmeline's face, then took her hand and grasped it. Mr. Piers rested his elbows on the table with both hands gripping Emmeline's. "I'm waiting for you to decide what's next, Dear."
"You ... you don't want to give me any particular advice? As usual?"
A certain thought returned to Mr Piers' eyes that Emmeline didn't understand. Mr. Piers then said slowly, "I don't think you need any advice from me this time, Emmy," Mr. Piers sighed with a mysterious smile. "You've come to a decision I never imagined, but," Mr. Piers' voice began to tremble, "what I see, you, Corbin Valsecchi, and Annaliese Valsecchi, God has brought you together."
Emmeline was still furrowing her brows at the answer, but the cell phone rang. Emmeline was forced to divert attention for a moment.
"Chloe Levine called," said Emmy.
Mr. Piers nodded his head as a sign for Emmeline to pick up the phone.
"Hello, Chloe. Yes, I'm at the office," said Emmy. "Fine. You just follow me here. Oh yeah, make sure Annaliese really rests." Emmy ended the call. Mr. Piers cleared his throat.
"Annaliese really wants you to explain everything directly to her."
"Em, that's right, Mr. Piers. I'll take care of that later. I—I still don't know how to explain all this to her."
Mr. Piers nodded his head again. "I ... have to go first, Dear. You, good luck with your work."
"Very well, Mr. Piers. Thank you."
Mr. Piers got up from his place, walking towards the door with calm and slow steps. For a few seconds before he opened the door, he turned to Emmeline, who was again taking a call.
Mr. Piers opened the door and stepped out of the room.
Emmeline had just finished receiving a call from Mrs. Valerie. Mrs Valerie said that the good reviews continued to be directed at them. The response from various parties had been very positive, and that, said Mrs Valerie, was likely to continue moving in a positive direction.
A few moments passed. After Emmeline busied herself with a few things, Chloe Levine, came with hasty steps. "Huh, it feels like I can't wait to get to the office soon. I've been driving my vehicle fast, but I feel like I just want to fly. Emmy, the results of our fashion show today with Avant-Garde Valestylez yielded very satisfying results. "
"I already knew. Several managers also just came to see me, and reported that some appreciation has come through them. The increase in our jewelry orders has also started to happen. We have to anticipate the amount of increase for some time to come."
"Ah, yes, you're right." Chloe responded with an enthusiastic smile.
Emmeline paused for a moment. "How is Anna doing?"
"She's fine. You calm down. She's resting at home. She's been obedient ever since. She's rested well."
Emmy pursed her lips. "Are you sure?"
"You don't believe it? She's been resting in her room since I was at home. But even now I'm sure she's resting. I told her not to take care of anything. Ah, you should know. In fact, she already knew about the photos that Lea had uploaded. And she, I'm sure has a lot of questions. But I told her to shut up for now. There are too many things we have to take care of first. I don't want her to bother you."
"Oh, I thank you for your concern. Even though she's already been thinking about me," Emmeline said. Chloe tilted her head back and raised her eyebrows. "You may have told her to stop talking about this. But Anna isn't the kind of girl to be quiet. She's been texting me, and even tried to call me asking to see her. She said she wanted an explanation."
"How dare she!" said Chloe.
Emmeline shrugged her shoulders. "That's it. And now I can't help but have to, tell the girl everything. Besides, I've already told Mr. Piers everything too, so I guess—ah, never mind." Emmeline, as if tired of speech.
"Ohh," Chloe Levine was surprised. "I missed the information. So you've told Mr. Piers too?"
"Because Anna already told him."
"That girl?" said Chloe. Emmy nodded. "Outrageous, that girl. I'll teach her a lesson. You take it easy."
"No need," said Emmeline. "Whether it's now or tomorrow, I'm sure I'll get all these questions from her. I'll meet Anna at your house later. She'll calm down after I talk to her."
There was a knock on the door.
"Oh, yes. I asked for some reports from the marketing department," Emmeline told Chloe about the importance of the employee coming into the room.
Someone came in. She turned to Emmeline and handed over the report Emmeline had asked for. Emmeline took it naturally. But the strange thing is, the stare of the employee. Looked strange and full of inquiry. But mixed with a hint of a smile. Emmeline frowned. Likewise Chloe. The employee was evidently polite, but her slightly odd gaze still made Emmeline curious.
"What's with her?" Emmeline asked.
"I don't know," said Chloe. "But what I heard was that it was crowded outside, many of our staff were also happy with what happened at our event today. They are proud of our success, it's just that, earlier someone said to me, why are you acting a little strange when you just arrived at the office earlier. They said you looked gloomy, even though the fashion show went well. You also ignored your subordinates' greetings, which is something you don't usually do."
Emmeline raised her eyebrows. "Hhh, oh yeah. I was dizzy thinking about Corbin's problem. Thinking about everything Lea uploaded."
Chloe nodded for a moment. She and Emmeline were silent for a moment, before then both opened their eyes, staring at each other with a look as if they had just realized something.
“Could it be that the employee just now looked at me strangely because ... ”
"Because she just found out about Lea's post, Emmy. They've probably seen it by now. Ah, my goodness. You're done, Emmy! The news about you and Corbin is starting to heat up!"
Emmeline sighed loudly at that.
