Emmeline arrived at Karfis & Vin office. Karfis & Vin's officials had been waiting for her. No one knew exactly what Emmeline had left for a few days earlier, all they knew was that Emmeline had left on business in Italy.
Emmeline was busy receiving reports from several people, and it was now becoming clear to her that some people had really been causing trouble on the production side. A designer was caught giving a new jewelry design to the production team and said it was an order from Karfis & Vin Boss, while someone there knew full well it was a model and pattern whose copyright had been patented by their rival company. Internal conflicts ensued. Moreover, the alarm was even more activated by the presence of someone who caused unrest by destroying several production machines. People who knew this immediately realized that something was wrong. It spread quickly among the higher-ups of Karfis & Vin, and it made the atmosphere within the company feel quite tense.
The designer in question had been arrested. Likewise, someone caught destroying a production machine. But what made it difficult for Chloe to explain what happened to Emmeline was that the two people claimed to be under Justin Ford's orders.
Justin was someone who held a fairly important position at Karfis & Vin, as one of the vice presidents in marketing for Karfis & Vin's flagship products. He's not a random person in Emmy's company, considering he had been with Karfis & Vin for a long time, since Vin was alive. Even Vincenzo Valsecchi himself agreed to his request to join Karfis & Vin at that time. Just like Vin, Justin Ford was also a former employee of Silas HA.
Emmeline was shocked, confused, and had a hard time believing what she was getting into. Justin himself was applying for leave from work before Emmeline went to Italy. He and his wife, visiting his sick parents in Germany. He had, at Emmeline's orders, been summoned urgently to return to Elderville-Bryxton, but his wife said her husband had an accident and was now being treated. Coincidence conditions that increasingly made everyone's opinion was led to believe the truth of the confession of two troublemakers who had been arrested. But from all that happened, Emmeline was not willing to involve the police.
"We will develop an internal investigation until everything is clearly proven first, then we will decide whether we will involve the police," Emmeline said to all key company officials who asked her decision.
Emmeline realized, she was now faced with a serious problem. But Justin, because of the trust that Vincenzo had placed in him, Emmeline was reluctant to immediately believe all the accusations that are leveled at him.
Meanwhile, Mr. Piers was still in the hospital. Emmeline forbade anyone to tell him the condition of the company. It was too risky, and Emmeline didn't want the old man's condition to worsen.
When bad things happened to the company, neither Emmeline nor Mr. Piers were at the company, which left none of them capable of providing oversight. Emmeline was made more and more aware of how much she needed Mr. Piers. Even in the midst of her confusion and not knowing what to do, and in the midst of her annoyance at the lies Mr. Piers had hidden from her for years, Emmy still wished she could see the old man by her side, even if it was just to tell her, everything would be fine.
Emmy had not yet seen Mr. Piers in the hospital. Emmy let Mr. Piers suspect that she was still in Italy. Emmy knew Mr. Piers wouldn't be ready if she saw him, considering she had just returned from the Aude Altieri house in Brilfaxa.
All the problems in front of her seemed so complicated to Emmeline. She even seemed to find it difficult even just to breathe. She herself had told Chloe Levine what had happened in Brilfaxa, but in the midst of all the big trouble that was going on, Chloe didn't dare to say anything about it.
Support was given by the Karfis family to Emmeline. They had learned about the company's internal problems from Emmy, but Emmy did not tell about Vincenzo, even though all her family members knew Vincenzo well. They still didn't know that Corbin was the younger brother of the late Vin.
Emmeline felt as if she were in the middle of an arid field, where the scorching sun was burning her and she had no one by her side.
Emmeline wanted to contact Corbin. But after all that had happened, remembering how Corbin had left her in their last conversation at Brilfaxa, Emmeline was hesitant to contact him, and her feelings were mixed. Corbin also had not contacted her. Emmy had no idea how the situation was developing at Corbin's house at this time.
Emmeline gripped the balcony railing on the side of her room one night in Elderville-Bryxton. Several days had passed since her return to the city. Chloe had told her that Justin Ford would be back in Elderville-Bryxton the next day. Justin had confirmed the plan.
"Everything will be fine, Emmy. Calm down," Emmy whispered to herself. She stood against the railing of the balcony, her gaze off, and her mind wandering. Until finally the sound of a message notification sounded on her cellphone.
'Emmy, are you asleep?' message from Lea. Emmy replied by saying 'not yet'.
The reply continued with Lea entering Emmeline's room, after Emmeline opened the door.
"I was asking to make sure it's okay if we talk for a bit. It's good that you haven't slept yet. Emmy, Waylon Ledger called me just now and asked if he could see you tomorrow?" Lea said as she walked further into Emmy's room, and ended up sitting on the bed.
Emmy furrowed her brows for a moment.
"Waylon, Emmy. He visited Karfis & Vin a few times while you were in Italy. I'm sure Chloe told you about it. He sees Chloe often."
"Yeah. Chloe already said it. But I can't. Justin Ford is going back to Elderville-Bryxton tomorrow. And we're going to talk about the matter he's suspected to be involved in. Do you really communicate with Waylon that much?"
"Yes. He's a friendly person and very open to new people. All right. Then I'll tell him you can't."
Emmeline glanced at Lea for a moment. Just a moment. She then took a deep breath and gave no further response.
Lea suddenly rose from her seat and hugged Emmy. She kissed Emmy on both cheeks and said, "Hope all your problems get better soon, honey. I fully support you."
Emmeline smiled. "Thank you."
Lea then stroked Emmy's hair and said, "You look tired. Get some rest. I won't bother you. Good night."
Lea left Emmy after Emmy also said "Good night."
Emmy looked at the direction Lea had gone, and thought to herself how much she had hidden from Lea and had become a little closed off to her since Darren had returned. Emmeline took a deep breath. She didn't have a single word to say, not even to herself.
