Waylon's footsteps apparently led Corbin to a woman he had known briefly before. A woman who played a game by using Corbin to make her ex-boyfriend leave. Corbin stood still a few steps away from them.
"Miss Olivia, I came to pick you up."
"I know. It's your job. Bring me my suitcase. I'm so tired. And you took too long," the woman said without showing any respect. Waylon seemed to put on a sour expression, getting an unpleasant response from the woman. But it seemed that it was no longer something new to him, because he seemed to be flexibly restraining himself. He seemed to have been trained to be patient with that attitude.
"Where is my dad?" Olivia asked.
"In the office, of course. He's a busy man. Have you ever seen him not busy?"
"Hm. You're right. It's boring. Why didn't he take the time to greet me. I'm finally back to Elderville-Bryxton after a few years." Olivia said as she walked by then. But then she stopped. Someone blocked her steps.
Olivia lifted her head, and her expression immediately turned enthusiastic and happy as she said, "You again? Ah—what's your name? Ah yes, I remember. Corbin!" The girl said cheerfully. Corbin nodded. Yes. Olivia stopped in front of Corbin at that moment, just as Corbin was still busy thinking about the coincidence that had happened to him.
Not a coincidence. Corbin began to think, it was fate for him to meet the people in front of him that day.
Corbin glanced at the man carrying Olivia's suitcase and stood behind the girl.
"You just left me just like that, but now you're back." Olivia laughed confidently. "I know. You can't just leave me like that. No man who knows me would do something stupid like that." Olivia glanced at Corbin with interest. Corbin was still silent at the time. His chest was full of anger at the man standing behind Olivia, and his mind was full of curiosity as to what was going on.
"Miss Olivia, Mr. Howard Silas wants you to come home soon," Waylon said.
"Shut up. Don't meddle in my business," Olivia said.
Corbin raised an eyebrow slightly, hearing Howard Silas' name being called. A name he knew very well. His mind immediately went to Howard Silas Ashbluff, the owner of Silas HA.
Corbin quickly looked back at Olivia, thinking about the woman's possible identity. Olivia was glancing at him too with a glance that was so lively at the time. "Now what?" Olivia asked. "You must have come back because you wanted to see me, right?" Olivia wiggled her eyebrows seductively. Corbin was silent in thought. He thought about what he should do. Olivia confidently grabbed Corbin's arm. "Let's have lunch then. We can make this introduction more interesting."
"Miss, we better head home soon."
"Shut up, Waylon. You can go home alone if you want."
"Sorry, but I have to take you. Your mom is waiting for you at home."
"Stop talking. I want to have lunch with Corbin. If you don't want to go home alone and insist on following me, it's up to you. But make sure you don't disturb us."
Corbin glanced at Waylon slyly. Corbin had already chosen what he was going to do.
Corbin was silent and did not refuse when Olivia took his hand, to leave the place and head to a restaurant.
A few moments later, and they arrived at a restaurant Olivia wanted. Waylon didn't seem to have given up, and he continued to join in, but Olivia wouldn't let him sit at the same table with her and Corbin, and so he took a different table. Corbin let it be.
Olivia and Corbin had been engaged in small talk, and instead of mentioning things about himself, Corbin asked more about Olivia. A sign that Olivia took as a signal of interest, though that wasn't really the reason for Corbin's question.
"So you just came back from Germany?" Corbin asked, repeating a bit of information Olivia had previously said.
"Yes. My mom and dad asked me to come home. And they insisted. That's why I came back. I don't know what they expected of me. I'm not really interested in running a company. Silas HA has never looked so attractive to me."
Corbin sighed with his gaze fixed on Olivia. He was already starting to know more.
Corbin glanced at Waylon for a moment. It was only a moment, and he looked back at Olivia.
"What is the man's position in your father's company?" asked Corbin.
"You mean Waylon?"
Corbin nodded. Olivia smiled.
"Why are you asking about him? Are you jealous of him?" Olivia smiled seductively. She then laughed. "Don't think silly about us. He's just my dad's subordinate who is often assigned to take care of many things about me. He is actually one of the directors at Silas HA. I didn't really like it when he started telling me about this and that. Ignore him," Olivia said.
Corbin narrowed his eyes. Now he knew Waylon was an important man in Silas HA.
Corbin remembered what Waylon had said on the phone about destroying Emmeline and her company. Corbin realized that Emmeline was facing a big danger now.
Olivia bluntly asked to exchange phone numbers with Corbin. Then Corbin, who thought it was a great way to stay connected and get lots of information, agreed.
They were still together. They engaged in the next light conversation.
Meanwhile, in the same restaurant, but at a separate point, two girls were also having a conversation. What they were discussing was something serious.
"I meant what I said, Emmeline. So this morning, when I accidentally saw a friend of mine having a hard time because the taxi she was in broke down, while her own car was at the repair shop, I stopped my car, and offered to help her take her to her office. We then chatted along the way. My friend works at the property company where Waylon works. But when I asked about Waylon Ledger, she said she didn't know who Waylon Ledger was. I said Waylon was in the position of marketing manager, as he told me, but my friend still insisted she didn't know Waylon. There is no manager at the company where she works named Waylon Ledger. She knew that well. Then I thought, is it possible that Waylon is lying?"
Emmeline was silent. She began to analyze the problem. She remembered her meeting with Waylon, then the content of their conversation, then she analyzed the events one by one since Waylon's appearance. Emmeline found her hands shaking.
"Oh," sighed Emmeline. "What Waylon said isn't much different from what Howard said. They were talking about the idea of an acquisition around the same time. Maybe they're actually related."
"Oh, my God," Chloe interrupted. "You mean, you assumed, Waylon was Howard's man?"
Emmeline nodded.
"Oh, my God. What disaster is this?" Chloe shrieked weakly.
