The door was open. Anna, was looking at the three people who were standing close to each other.
"What's going on here? Why are people going in and out of this room randomly?" said Darren.
Chloe glanced sharply at him. "Don't forget that it was you who came in here by force. No one else behaves like you."
"Em-sorry. I texted Miss Chloe that I was in this office and she told me to come in. Just go into Miss Emmeline's room, she said. So I ... come in here," Anna said.
Chloe cleared her throat, stroking the nape of her neck. Gestures that showed that even though it's awkward, but yes, she did it. Darren glanced at her intently.
"Oh, so while I've been here you've been thinking hard about how to kick me out, Chloe?"
"Darren, stop it!" said Emmeline. "Enough! Get over all that attitude! What do you mean by all this?"
"Miss Emmy!" Anna interrupted the conversation, as if she didn't care or was on purpose. "I came to ask, when are we going to Paris? I promised Corbin it wouldn't take us long to get to Italy. I told my aunt too she wouldn't have to wait long."
Corbin's gaze fixed on Annaliese. "What do you mean?" he asked Anna. He then turned his gaze to Emmeline. "What does all this mean? You're going to Italy?"
Emmeline looked unhesitatingly at Darren. "Yes! That's right! Corbin's aunt wants to see me. She's been waiting for me. Anna and I will be there as soon as possible."
"What?" Darren sighed. "Are you kidding?"
"Ah, no. It is true. My aunt wanted us to go there right away. She's already waiting for us. We're not kidding," Anna interrupted. Chloe, smiled faintly at Anna's courage.
Darren looked back at Emmeline. Chloe cleared her throat and added, "Ah, it's obvious, this relationship can't be called a joke. You can congratulate them after knowing all this, Darren."
Emmeline looked at Darren with a sharp glance.
"You feel our past relationship isn't over, Darren?" said Emmy. "You're wrong. It's all over. And now we both have our own futures. The sooner you come to your senses, the better."
Everyone was silent in the room. They all knew what had happened between Emmeline and Darren.
"And I want you to heed my words, Darren. My sister, Lea, is a good girl. If you claim to be her lover, you should stop looking for traces of your past. Stop it and forget it!"
Darren was silent. Staring at Emmeline sharply. He then briefly looked at Anna and Chloe with a puzzled look, then back to Emmeline. "You've ruined my pride, Emmeline. I don't like this."
Darren turned around and left the place. His steps were so steady and the aura of anger was felt. Emmeline sighed loudly as she closed her eyes after Darren slammed the door shut. She sat in her chair in a limp state.
"I sympathize with Lea now. Do you think it would be right for us to keep Darren in touch with Lea?" Chloe said. Anna, walked closer to Chloe and Emmeline.
"Miss, are you all right?" Anna asked.
Emmeline nodded her head. "Yes, I am doing okay." Emmeline turned to look at Chloe. She responded to Chloe's remark by saying, "How do I tell Lea all this? How do I tell everything? I'm going to expose all these fake relationships too? All these lies? This has all gone too far. How can I tell all of this? Lea will be devastated too." Emmy gritted her teeth in anger.
Anna said, "I didn't know things like this could get so serious. That guy named Darren earlier also looked really angry. Even without you doing anything, is it possible that he will still maintain his relationship with Miss Lea? What do you think, Miss Emmy?"
Emmy and Chloe looked at each other at the question. Before they could say anything else, Anna had said cheerfully again, as she drew closer to Emmy and took one of her hands. "All right, Miss Emmy. Let's just forget about all this for a moment. Aren't we going to Italy? How about we forget about all our troubles for a moment, and enjoy our time in Italy. My aunt will be happy to meet you, and I will also be able to rest from all my tiring activities. I haven't been back to Brilfaxa for a while. I think this will be fun."
Chloe smiled and leaned closer to Anna. She squeezed Anna's shoulder. "You're right, Anna. Yes. I think it's true. Enjoy your time. Maybe when you two come back, Emmy will have a fresh mind to deal with anything here."
Emmy stared at the two people in front of her without expression. But then she nodded. Even with hesitation. In her mind, she was undecided about what she should do about Lea and Darren.
Emmeline finished the rest of the day's work at the office. So was Chloe. As for Anna, she had left the office not long since she had had enough talking with Chloe and Emmeline.
When she arrived home, Emmy heard the story of her parents who did not visit Darren because they heard from Lea that Darren had improved and had even gone to work. As for Lea, she approached Emmeline in her room at night, asking slowly, with a curious expression on her face. "Today Darren said he visited you in your office. Is that true, Emmy?" Emmy widened her eyes in surprise.
Emmy stared at Lea silently and didn't know what to say. Darren had apparently told Lea bluntly that he was visiting Emmeline.
"When I asked him what he was doing, he said he was just stopping by, on his way to work," Lea continued. "So earlier, after I visited him at his house, then went to work, apparently I had left my things at his house. After a while in the hospital, I decided to go back to his house to get it, but his door was locked. He had already left for work, which I didn't expect. Last night when I tried to call him to check on his condition, we only talked briefly. He was reluctant to speak and said he needed time to rest. I was a bit surprised to find that he chose to leave for work today. Even though I know he's fine, but if he rests, it's better."
Emmeline looked at Lea sympathetically. She wanted to say many things, but she didn't know how to start. Emmy looked away awkwardly.
"What did he tell you when he met you, Emmy? I feel like he's still pissed at me about my post yesterday. But I thought, why should he be so upset? You're my sister. And we're also very close. When you don't even have a problem with my upload—and I've already told him that—why should he consider it a problem? Then when he said he just saw you, I thought, what's all that for? Why do I feel, there is something strange about him?"
Emmeline gasped. Her chest felt tight. Then while Lea still seemed to be thinking, Emmeline looked at her guiltily.
