CHAPTER SIX

1091 Words
Emily's POV There was hardly anyone that wouldn't cower at the mention of a name as powerful as Alpha Armon Blackwood, the richest, most influential CEO alpha in the whole country, and he was seated at the lounge, staring at me like it was a perfectly normal thing for him to show up at my office and wait for me. Why is he here? Does he see potential in this company? It would have been an honor for him to invest in it, but I'll be escaping with the help of my secret stalker, A.A. and there would be no need for Alpha Armon's help. It will even make it difficult for me to exert revenge on my parents and the devil called Ramon. What can I do for him to leave, though? I thought, racking my brains for polite ways to discourage him from investing in this company. When I found none, I swallowed and gestured for Sandra, who looked like she was awestruck, to leave. "Let's proceed to my office, Alpha Armon." I said in a voice as calm as the waves. "Sure, Miss Emily." He rumbled and stood up, following my lead. I frowned a bit. Miss Emily? I caught myself before I could think further. Of course he thinks I'm unmarried. I had thrown the disgusting wedding band given to me by Ramon into a hole in the basement room he gave to me, and my looks didn't give off that of the wife of an influential Alpha. I shrugged off the thoughts when I held the door for him and he almost bent into the office; it was then that I noticed how intimidating he looked, and his height? It should be on a solid 6.5 ft. "Have a seat, please," I offered, and he obliged. He was mightier and taller than I am, and he could easily cover my form with his frame. I imagined him being the knight in shining armor that has been sending parcels to me. It would be unbelievable. "This," He brought out a parcel, as if reading my mind, "is for you." I stared at the parcel that he had dropped on the table. Same parcel wraps, same design, those little boxes. Could it be...? "You're A.A.?" I blurted out, flabbergasted. "I am," he nodded in a professional manner, like he had a specialty in helping women in antagonizing marriages to escape. My mouth instantly dried, and I lost the ability to speak for a while. "But... why?" I finally whispered, leaning closer on the table, "Why do you want to help me?" His gaze lingered on my face like he was trying to memorize it, and then he moved too, leaning closer like I did. "Because I want to." "Cut to the chase," I sighed, raking my hand into my hair in a frustrated move. "You and Ramon have been best friends since forever." "Scrap the last word out, Emily," he stoically warned. "We fell out after he did something really terrible to me." "How do I trust you?" I asked after exchanging gazes with him for long seconds. "You can do your research. Ramon and your family are my sole enemies. They bit off more than they can chew, and I will make them pay for it." "They forced you into marriage with that bastard." Armon added, "And trust me, I know how bad he must have treated you these few weeks. Ramon is not cut out for love; he is an evil monster that should be brought down from his high, and I hope you can help me achieve that. Let's plan your escape while you help me exert revenge on your enemies—which, luckily, are mine. Deal?" I pursed my lips as memories of Ramon forcing himself on me glazed my head. The way my parents condemned me and wished I had died in place of my brother, how Ramon's sister has made life even harder than it should be in the mansion, and the hurtful treatment I have received since my day one in Ramon's mansion. They hated my very form. They wanted me dead. I was a tool in their hand, and they used me to their satisfaction. I am done being used; I will show them that I could be something more. Something powerful. Someone untouchable. I did not know when I stretched a hand towards Armon. "Deal." As soon as Alpha Armon's palm touched mine, a spark spiked through my fingers, sending signals to my nerves. Unaware of the internal turmoil he just created, he smiled, one that revealed a subtle dimple on his left cheek, and my heart seemed to do a flip. What if I'm falling right into the devil's lap? "Where would you rather be?" Emma asked as I watched Armon pick up a call. "With him." I muttered softly and turned away. I had never connected with anyone through the mind link before, and it was probably because I had not found my mate. I hope it doesn't activate out of blues because this is the moment when I need my thoughts to myself. "Here's the plan I have in store," he began, and I listened attentively as he outlined how he intends for me to escape. "I'll have to leave the country, Armon," I told him, worried sick about my baby. "I can't risk being caught and brought back to the mansion." "You don't have to worry about that, Emily. You and your baby are in safe hands." My eyes widened instantly. "Baby? How do you know?" "I always have my way." That evening, I almost sang on my way home. My escape was slated for three days later, and Armon had encouraged me to bear the torture of Ramon and his sister till then. I had scoffed; three days is nothing compared to the weeks of dread that I had spent in the mansion. Ramon was barely around, but once he set eyes on me, he ensured that I felt the heat of daring to look into his eyes. On occasions where he'd return late at night, smelling like luxurious feminine perfume with visible kiss marks on his shirt, I never dared to ask who planted them. That would be like kissing my dear little life goodbye. The third day finally arrived, and I woke up with my blood racing in my veins more than ever. Excitement surged in me, but I tamped it down and kept a straight face when I left my room.
