My Birthday Surprise

Luka POV

I knocked on Keda's door in hopes of her being home. She answered and she looked beautiful. Her long red hair was pulled up into a ponytail. She had on some shorts and a t-shirt, and they hugged her figure just right. She let me in, surprisingly, and I set her gifts on the countertop. I watched as she found the card and quickly opened it.

She read it silently before hugging me. "Thank you for all of this. "You didn't have to do this," she said gently. She opened the bag and pulled out several dresses I thought she would love and knew would fit her. Then she opened a box up, and it was the one with her cake in it. She opened the other 2 boxes I had for her, and one had a heart necklace and a new dress for her to wear tonight.

I had a note on top of the dress asking if she would go on a date with me. I hoped she would say yes. I really wanted to be with her, but I didn't know how that would work since she was human. I had no intentions of telling her I was a werewolf either. I wanted to date her and see if she liked me for me or my money before I sprung that on her. I watched as she ran to try on the dresses and her matching heels with them and a pearl necklace I thought would look great on her.

She looked amazing. The dress hugged all her curves, and she looked beautiful. Her eyes sparkled, and I couldn't wait to have her hair and nails done. She went and changed back into her clothes from before and was working on her to-do list. "Sorry, I have some things to do the rest of this evening, so I actually won't have availability till tomorrow night. "I have to get these bills paid today and tomorrow." said Keda.

I should have known she was going to be busy this evening. I saw her to-do list for today. No matter, I still smiled and made the appointment for her nails to be done around 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, and her hair and make-up were going to be done there at her apartment too. I couldn't wait to treat her like a queen. We walked out of her apartment, and she invited me to come back later for pizza and root beer floats. I agree with that.

Keda POV

I watched him walk away. He seemed sad when I told him I wasn't available till tomorrow night. I had stuff to take care of, and that included my bills. My landlord let me make payments throughout the month, so it wasn't so much all at once. He left to go take care of a couple of things so we could at least have dinner at the house and watched a movie and eat some pizza while I paid other bills online.

I don't spring on stuff like this often, so it was nice to have company. I felt bad that he paid when I invited him over to eat with me. "Thank you for paying, "I whispered. He smiled as he ate. About halfway through the movie, I made our root beer float and sat back on the couch. Little did I know after finishing my root beer float and setting my cup down that I would fall asleep.

Luka POV

She laid her head on a pillow on the arm of the couch. I talked with her boss, and she's been there since she was 15 and a half. Since her birthday, she has been working doubles and sometimes triples just so she could save for going back to school and for her birthday. She was exhausted, and I didn't want to wake her up to leave. She looked like an angel. My mate died when she was 19 because of a rogue attack.

Keda kinda of reminded me of her, but my mate always stayed by my side to help me. She was so beautiful. The movie Sleeping Beauty came on, and I shut off her t.v. I picked her up gently and laid her on her worn-down old bed. I covered her up with a new blanket that I bought her and had hidden. I wanted her to wake up with it. It was supposed to be kinda cold, and just to save on heating, and she kept it at about 69 or 70 degrees.

I wanted to make it easier for her but didn't know how. I was ready to go home but didn't want to leave her with the door unlocked. Just as I was gathering my stuff, Keda woke up. She looked so surprised to see me still there. "I...... I...... thought you left already to go home." She said so sleepily. Nope.... I cleaned your kitchen.

You were so tired I put everything away. I'll see you tomorrow. Lock the door, my queen, and go get some more rest. I walked to my car and waved bye to her as she looked out her window and waved back. I could see the tears going down her face, but I had to go home. My wolf was driving me crazy about her.

I had to remind him that though she wasn't our mate, and may very well never be. I made my way home and headed straight for my office. My mate died young due to a rogue attack, and she was only 2 months pregnant. I wanted to be with Keda, but it was dangerous for a human to be pregnant with a werewolf's baby. I knew this dating would be pointless, but some humans do mate with us. I guess we will see how the date goes and go from there. That's all I could really do at this point.

It would be better to find someone else I like vs. My parents. I couldn't be an alpha, apparently, without my Luna/ mate. Maybe they would be quiet if I just picked someone to like. I honestly haven't felt one bit for this girl but pity. I laid down in my bed that I had attached to my office. My father gave me an office room attached to my room so I could have a place to do my homework when I was younger and then to practice being Alpha of the whole pack.

I finally fell asleep in hopes that things would turn out better. All I could do was dream of a better date. I wanted good memories and to stop having these nightmares about Sophia. All I could do was pray for the moon goddess for guidance or continue down the same path I chose since Sophia's death 2 years ago.
