My Sleeping Beauty Mate

Keda POV I woke up at 2 a.m., unable to sleep. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and put on a movie on my t.v. I lay on the couch in hopes of falling asleep with my belly full for a couple more hours. I couldn't, so I decided to take a shower. My apartment was small but it was perfect. It was a 1 bedroom 1 bath and I loved it. I often thought about getting a pet so I could have someone to come home to, but I could barely afford to feed myself. I was lucky that while I was at work, I got free $10 meals, so I was able to keep minimum food in my home. I decided to ask my boss if they needed me early once I was dressed, and he always knew I was in need of extra money, so he always let me come in early to help out with the early morning rush. Yeah, come on in he replied as I just slipped my nonslip twnnishoes on. I grabbed my keys and made my way downstairs to my front door. I got to work fairly quickly. I closed my car door and made my way in just as the sun began to rise up. I pulled my hair up and out of my way and began helping buss plates and taking them to the kitchen. I had 20 plus tables done, and their were 3 other girls who only had 2 tables done each. As the morning went on, I sipped on my coffee as a customer flagged me down. He looked like my age, and he seemed furious. When I got to the table, he immediately began yelling at me. "Do you broads not know how to make anything properly. My food was disgusting, the coffee was awful, and it didn't taste right, too. Now, on top of that, you're gonna bill us $100.00 for our breakfast." he said rudely. Sir, I don't know if you think I'm stupid or what, but # 1. There are 4 of you, so $100 isn't bad; #2 the food and coffee must have not been that bad because all of you ate everything and drank 5 or 6 cups of coffee. I am not going to let you ruin one of these girls simply because you wanna be an a**wh***. My manager, myself, and the owner of this restaurant would agree as well. They are in the back, would you like to talk with them? I folded my arms as he stood up, towering over my 5 foot 4 inch body by at least an entire foot. He smiled and nodded his head, "ok, you have a point. Why make a stink about this now at the end. Have a good day, ladies, and here is $300 per waitress for passing our test." he said smugly. He seemed like a player with all the girls who surrounded him. I cleaned up their table as I watched them leave. The day passed quickly, and thankfully, because I was ready to go home. It was the evening shift, and unfortunately, I was working till closing time. My whole body began to ache, and I just wanted to soak in a bathtub filled with epsome salt and bubbles as I drank some chocolate milk. I felt a hand snake around on to my waist, startling me out of my thoughts. I swear I jumped, and my first instinct was to punch. My fist landed in his soft, gentle hand as he spun me around. It was the guy from this morning who tested us to see how we would handle business and if we would cave. Oh my goodness........ I'm so........ so ...... so........ sorry. I didn't..... I'm so sorry........ Did I hurt you? He just grinned and looked at my hand, tenderly not realizing it was red from how he grabbed me. I finished cleaning with the other girls as I watched him go outside. My boss told me to take 3 days off since I had worked 3 weeks, with no break. I insisted on coming in to help, even if it was just to bus tables or seat people. I was hoping to go back to school. My boss, however, said if I took a week off, he would make it paid time off. I walked out the door, not even realizing he was standing right their. I planned to ignore him as he irritated me with his little test and then his stunt to put his hand on my waist while I was working. He obviously had something to say, and I wished he would just say it. I just ignored him as I made my way to my cheep jeep. I wasn't looking where I was going as I was trying to find my keys, I slipped on something and hit my head at the same time. Everything was fading, and all I saw was him as I blacked out. When I woke up the next morning, I was in my apartment on my bed. My whole body ached, and I felt like I couldn't move. I began to move around to the best of my ability when I felt his hand. I looked over, and he was asleep on the floor with his hand on the bed. I tapped his hand, and he sat up pretty quickly. He smiled, and all I could do was ask..... Who the hell are you, and why are you in my house. " I am Jacob Hantstings. You hit your head when you fell in the parking lot yesterday. I found your address in your wallet. I brought you home. I thought you might feel more comfortable that way." he said softly. He stood up, helping me sit up and put a movie on for me. When he came back after about 30 minutes, he brought in some food. I didn't know if he knew, but I was a vegetarian, and I had allergies. I had them taped on the fridge in the event of guests. He came in with eggs with lactose cheese mixed in them, some chocolate almond milk, and fruit salad. We sat in silence as we watched my favorite movie, Little Mermaid. I knew I wasn't a kid anymore, but I still loved it. He stayed till I asked him to go home. He left his card on my side table in case I needed him. I got up slowly and made my way to the kitchen, where I found a note that said he had made chicken noodle soup, but their was no chicken in it. I was hungary again, so of course, I heated up a bowl and ate some. He didn't seem like an ordinary guy. I decided to give him a thank you text before heading to bed. I had to believe it. Just as I laid down my head, I said happy birthday to my lonely self again. I put on a tape that had all the school house seasons and episodes. I fell asleep and it was great. When I woke up the next morning, it was time to pick up my paycheck. I was getting around when I heard a knock on my door. Their he stood with his sandy blond hair blowing in the wind with a couple of boxes in his hands. He stood their smiling like an i***t and I couldn't believe him. I let him in, and he set the boxes on my couter top. Um....... I was headed out. "I know, but I wanted to give these to you. I hope you like it. No one should have to spend time alone on their birthday." he said, grinning. I opened the bag that contained a card first. I read the card first. "You are brave, beautiful, and smart. I am so glad I tested you a few nights ago in the restaurant. I like you a lot and want to take you to dinner for your birthday. Happy birthday, Princess. I hope it is a good one, " from Luka.
