The Old Vintage House
I got out of my car as it stoped infront of the vintage mansion beside the lake. My driver took out my luggage bags and the maidens helped him move them in as I decided to take a stroll around the old place. "Fridge, I'll be taking a walk around the place. Thank's for settling my bags by the way," I said for which he simply nodded with a gentle smile.
I turned to my right and started walking away from the pavement. I looked back at the enormous black gate, one kilometer away from me, through which my car just drove through. A middle aged guy near the gate, who i thought to be a gardener smiled at me for which I gave back a gentle smile of my own. All the way from the gate to the double-doors of the bungalow a wide cemented pavement was structured. Just years ago I stood there on that pavement crying....
A gentle tap on my shoulder brought me back to my senses and I turned back to look over my shoulder to see an old lady with a slight hump looking at me with a sympathetic smile on her face. "You are back sweetie," the woman said and just then an image of a sweet, young woman crossed my mind. "Mrs.Linsy?"
"Yes, sweetie. It's me. Took you long enough to visit this old wo-," I didn't let her finish her words and instead attacked her with a hug due to which she stumbled back a few steps. I hugged her tight as she laughed, her whole body vibrating along with her laugh.
"Sweetie, have you realized yet that I have grown old in the decade you were away from here?" she asked as her laughter slowly died down.
"Oh yeah, sorry. I was just excited to see you after so long," I said as I took a step back from the hug and smiled at her.
"You've already lost many sweetie but I'm happy to see that you are strong enough to thrive through it all. You are strong, just like how your mother wanted you to be. You are making her proud and trust me she's watching everything from above," she ended and I swallowed my breath and gave her a shaky smile.
"Thank you Mrs.Linsy," I said and turned around, walking away as I shouted over my shoulders, "I'm going for a walk around the estate Mrs.Linsy".
She nodded and I saw her walking into the house. I looked back at the path ahead and kept my hands in my hoodie pocket as I walked further around.
The old bungalow had been passed down to my dad from our ancestors and as the only remaining heir next to him, it was then passed down to me, when he died two months ago. This estate almost covers 300 acres of land being the largest estate here at Flickshire Town. It has woods to it's east, behind the compound walls, which when walked through leads us to the Moonlit Lake, the most beautiful one out there in the world. Behind the bungalow, towards the north is the dense woods where it's much more darker than the woods in the east, so we never bothered about the part beyond the northern compound walls. To the west is the brightest part of the town, where almost three-fourth of the population lives. Basically it's our estate that divides the heart of Flickshire and the Flickwood forest, serving as a safety wall for the rest of the town. As I realized how much I still remembered about the place, it made me realise how much I missed the town and this place.
Few couple of minutes later I reached the east gate, the one which lead to the woods and further towards the Moonlit lake. I looked at the old and rusty gate contemplating whether to go out or not. I looked up at the sky to see that it was turning darker. I sighed as I opened the gate and stepped out.
