The Blade of Stars slid easily from the crystal pillar.
The moment Alora held it, the sword began to glow with bright silver light.
Tiny star-like sparks floated around the blade as if the weapon carried a piece of the night sky inside it.
Alora felt energy surge through her arm.
Not painful.
Powerful.
“It recognizes you,” Cael said in amazement.
Lyra looked impressed.
“That’s not just a sword,” she said. “That’s a legendary weapon.”
The stone wolf bowed its massive head before Alora.
Then it slowly faded back into the cavern walls, returning to its stone form.
The guardian had accepted her.
Alora looked at the glowing blade.
“So this is one of the relics.”
“Yes,” Cael replied. “And it has chosen its wielder.”
But suddenly the cavern began to shake violently.
Dust fell from the ceiling.
Lyra’s expression darkened.
“We’re not alone.”
Dark figures appeared at the cavern entrance.
Obsidian soldiers.
And standing behind them…
A tall figure with burning red eyes and armor made of black lightning.
He stepped forward slowly.
His gaze locked onto Alora.
“Well,” he said coldly.
“So this is the famous princess.”
Cael’s face went pale.
“Alora… run.”
But the stranger only smiled.
“My name is Zareth.”
“General of the Obsidian Court.”
“And you’re coming with me.”
