CHAPTER 15 - GENERAL ZARETH

259 Words
The cavern trembled as the Obsidian soldiers stepped inside. Their dark armor reflected the faint light of the torches, making them look like living shadows. Behind them stood General Zareth, tall and terrifying, his black lightning armor crackling with dark energy. Alora tightened her grip on the Blade of Stars. Cael whispered urgently, “We cannot defeat them all here.” But Zareth simply raised a hand. The soldiers stopped advancing. He walked forward slowly, studying Alora with cold curiosity. “So the stories were true,” he said. “The last Enchanted princess.” Alora lifted the glowing sword. “You’re not taking me anywhere.” Zareth chuckled softly. “Oh, I don’t intend to force you… yet.” Suddenly, he stretched out his hand. Dark lightning shot from his palm, striking the cavern wall. The entire chamber shook violently. Large rocks crashed down around them. Lyra pulled Alora aside. “He’s trying to trap us!” Cael raised his staff and created a glowing barrier to block falling debris. “We must escape now!” he shouted. Alora nodded. Holding the Blade of Stars high, she swung it through the air. The sword released a wave of brilliant silver light that blasted through the cavern wall behind them. A new tunnel opened. “Go!” Lyra yelled. They ran through the tunnel just as the cavern collapsed behind them. Zareth watched calmly as the dust settled. His glowing eyes narrowed. “Run while you can, princess,” he murmured. “The hunt has only just begun.”
